Let's try this once again...... Let's Play! The Sims 3 ('How Many Clowns Does It Take?')

Because, apparently, I enjoy feeling frustrated, I'm attempting the Sims 3 once more... for the last time... yet again. (I just want to plaaaaaaay a Ten-Gen-Fam challenge! If things get corrupted this time, I'll give up. This time is the last time. **I promise.** *Everything* hinges on this attempt!)

And so, once again, I find myself running a brand new fresh, clean install with zero created content and the only mods in the game are NRAAS "error fixing" mods. I even got one I didn't have last time, Overwatch. The registry has been cleaned. I am running the game under Windows 7 compatibility. I have the fps capped so my graphics card doesn't explode. I've even got it installed on my slower HDD instead of the SSD incase that was somehow an issue last time? Since the game was made in the time of normal HDDs being more common?

Please, for the love of all that is holy, allow me to play the Sims 3 so I don't have to force myself to like the Sims 4. Because I can't. I just can't. I tried it agaaaaaain the other week, in hopes I could just magically like it after all this time, and nope. Facebook Sims Lite is just not for me.

I could rant and rave about all the things I dislike about the Sims 4 for daaaaaaays. And I think I have in the past. So I won't subject you to that in this post. 😅

If you would be so kind, to take a trip with me, into the sleepy city of Sunset Valley, and cross your fingers and toes that this time I experience no game-ruining issues...

Today we are meeting Alexandria, founder, matron, matriarch!! of the upcoming Kael dynasty.

As per the rules of this challenge, I am allowed to modify this Founder in any way I please. It is the future generations (assuming I get there this time!!!!!!) that must be randomised and taken as they are.

I have given her brunette hair, gorgeous pale eyes which all future heirs MUST HAVE, and the ability to cook without burning down her house. She's also a bookworm, outdoors-lover, and a friendly, charismatic person ready to take on the town.

The normal rules of this challenge state that you must buy the largest block of land and build whatever shack on it that you can afford until your Sim makes enough money to expand.

Meh. I'm not following the challenge exactly as written. The Kael Dynasty will live upon that land one day, but at this moment my family may move all over town, wherever I fancy. And in this instance I fancy a medium-sized block of land up in a tiny neighbourhood *away from it all.*

After building and decorating the house with our meagre $14,800, we are ready to begin the game once again!

I'm actually surprised at how much I managed to jam in considering I'm not using any underpriced created content. The cheap toilet is going to break a lot, so is that cheap bath and sink, and she's going to complain about poorly cooked food for a while... but at least she has a somewhat decorated abode with a comfy bed and some entertainment!

Once again I pray and hope and wish to a higher power that *this time* in *this playthrough* everything will be okay.

Happy to be living in a brand new house with no broken sims waltzing around the neighbourhood -- yet, anyway -- Alexandria dances for a bit.

Soon she is so happy with life and existence that she starts to dream. And dream BIG!

All of a sudden, she wants to be a journalist, she wants to take a class and learn how to write, she wants to do so many things -- ALL the things!

Luckily, she still had a few dollars left over after her house and furniture purchases, so she ducked in to the local news headquarters and took their Beginner Journalism class.

After proving she could write, and write well! They were impressed enough to hire her on the spot.

She wouldn't be on the clock until tomorrow, and she would only be a lowly papergirl at that, but that didn't bother Alexandria. She raced to the park, filled with happiness and glee and prepared to begin her new role with gusto.

If she was going to fight through the paid ranks of journalism, she would have to start now, regardless of her status as a lowly papergirl.

Sitting upon the swing and looking as nonchalant as an adult could possibly look whilst using a child's playground with no child of her own, she watched the people for the hours. They would all become her friends, and thus, her unwitting prey.

After people-watching for a while, she at last went over to introduce herself and start collecting some city gossip she could write about to prove her worth as BETTER than a lowly papergirl.

Her first introduction did not go well.

Stepping away from the strange man who was ignoring his stinky toddler, Alexandria made friends with two women. Success. Her attempts to ingratiate herself to the people was mostly successful! She had even learnt a tiny bit of gossip about people she had never met!

She couldn't wait to tell her boss and be instantly promoted.

The next day she started her first day of work as a lowly papergirl and prepared to finish her day as an executive journalist.

Unfortunately things didn't quite go as planned.

Rushing around the office she had no time to talk to people, to write things down, to prove her worth. She saw her boss for a mere quarter of a second and tried to speak, but got shooed away!

This day was awful. The worst day ever.

And so after her shift, she went home and crawled straight into bed to mope away her horrid day.

What was the point in hiring her as soon as she finished that writing course if they didn't expect her to *write* anything?

She was a clown.

A clown with grand journalistic dreams that would never come true.

It was possible tomorrow could be better but she doubted it. This was her life now. Fetching coffee and throwing papers into the bin that the proper journalists had thrown at her. She was the true definition of 'lowly papergirl.'
