Due to the coronavirus and *most* of the world in lockdown, my Minecraft server -- Biome -- decided to do a reset a month or so early. And there was much rejoicing!

I've been waiting for this, and by the looks of it everyone else was too.

It's so good to be able to start at the same time as everyone else, and actually be able to *do* things with other people and get a shop set up and not be on a dead server.

Living in Queensland, sometimes I forget that the rest of Australia follows a little something called "Daylight Savings Time" so when it was announced that it would launch at 11am AEST, I thought I had a bit of time on my hands.

I was wrong.

They meant AEDT.

As a result, by the time I got online our little server was nearly full and I doubted I'd find a spot to settle very quickly.

So I made a boat and endeavoured to cross what I hoped was a very large ocean and make my way the untamed wilds.

The ocean wasn't as large as I hoped, but I didn't come across other people on my travels and what should smack me in the face but a huge swath of unclaimed plainslands!?

I decided that although I was still relatively close to spawn, that this would be my new home. There was plenty of land to flatten for creative purposes, a mountain to dig in, I was near to a river, and a lush, vibrant forest.

Of course, the most important thing to set up first and foremost was the mine. Adorned with a nearby sheep's head and surrounded by the looted bamboo of our jungle spawn, I swiftly got to work in the all important quest of...

 **FINDING DIAMONDS!**

Unfortunately, as I was mining away and slowly collecting a stockpile of iron, gold, and whatever else I could throw into treasure chests, the chat was running rampant.

Apparently... I had close neighbours.

Several close neighbours.

People were complaining about their nether portals being linked to everyone else's and wrote their coordinates into chat, and I winced.

One person had set up within 100 blocks of me and I hadn't even noticed.

To spare myself the annoyance of nether portal moving and re-linking, and the ultra-annoyance of landing on a nether spot already pillaged of all quartz, I decided to throw whatever was necessary into my inventory and find a new spot to settle.

I found a dark oak forest, filled with mushrooms, and there was a perfect circular clearing in the centre!

Now this was a picturesque spot to build a cute, quaint little village.

I'm actually not too sure what I want to build yet, but I quickly whipped up a basic house to throw a bunch of treasure chests in.

Before the reset, I was actually contemplating building my very own modern-day city. Very unlike me. And I also had an idea to build my Sundered Isles and the castle that sits atop their magnificence.

But I'm not sure.

We'll have to see as things progress -- the main thing at the moment is setting up a portal area, hoping it's not linked to everyone else's, and getting *all* the quartz.

**ALL** of it.

That will be today's endeavour. 😃
