After the legalization of cryptocurrencies and the initial offers of currencies (ICO) in Belarus, an important technical university in Belarus now offers a diploma course covering cryptocurrencies, their derivatives and ICO. Immediately, people who wanted to learn about this new industry signed up and flooded the enrollment.

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has legalized cryptocurrencies, ICOs and smart contracts. As reported last week, the decree "On the development of the digital economy" was signed, which also exempts revenues related to tax cryptography during the next five years.

After the announcement of Lukashenko, the National Technical University of Belarus (BNTU) announced a diploma course in the field of cryptocurrencies. Established in 1920, BNTU is an important technical university in Belarus. His former students include two former prime ministers of Belarus, Vyacheslav Kebich and Gennady Novitsky.

According to the university's website, the course covers "operations with cryptocurrencies", "operations with cryptocurrency futures", "the use of blockchain technology" and "ICO as an alternative to IPO". This 1-year and 8-month program, which begins on March 12 next year, is available for "people with higher education as well as for senior students of higher education institutions."

On his Facebook page, more than 100 comments were published in response to the university announcement. The users also consulted about shorter courses for a quick knowledge on the subject. One user wrote: "taking into account the speed of the application of cryptocurrencies and changes in the world, in 1 year and 8 months, it will be too late, is it really impossible to adjust the program in one or two months?"

The institute explained that the course consists not only in cryptocurrencies but also in several stock instruments, such as stocks and bonds, as well as in methods to attract investments. In addition, successful graduates will receive a state diploma "in retraining at the level of higher education", which will be impossible to issue if the course is shortened.

However, many Facebook users insist that they prefer a quick knowledge to obtain a diploma. A BNTU student who is now a project manager at Mobipay Belarus said: "Keep in mind that nobody needs diplomas for a long time, knowledge is more important. What should I do with this diploma and to whom should I show it? "

Other users were interested in knowing the cost of the course, who the teachers are, the interview process and the requirements of the application. Regarding the price, the university wrote:

"The cost of the training is 966 US dollars at the rate of the NBRB (National Bank of the Republic of Belarus)."

However, a former BNTU fellow commented: "It seems to me that $ 1,000 per year is very, very, very high."
