As the temperature is rising towards its boiling point here in the Netherlands, my conclusion is that it isn't too bad to work nightshifts in these kinds of days. Through out the day there is enough nap time to still get some sleep (hell I could sleep when it is 50 degrees Celsius even), but there is also plenty of time to go on some water walks with my favorite furry friend Sem the Bernese mountaindog.

For the dog this is nearly only the only option to get some movement in this heat. In normal temperature days you can already see that this dog isn't made for explosive exercise because of his furry coat and lack of good condition. He can run though! Ow yes, but just not that long that fast, or in no time his tongue will be on the floor and you can really see he has some issues to get rid of his heat.

So these kids of days are not the best for him. Unless ofcourse, you go swimming!

And that is what he does best in these kinds of days. I could literally side on the side of the water and he will just walk in like this and carry himself around. Or even better, he wants to retrieve something, also that he could do the whole day. But with the amount of water which he swallows during retrieving I try to minimalise this a little for his own good.

Gotta do what is best for the furry friend right? Djeez, I sound like a worried parent.

But actually with a dog you are like a parent, because these animals don't feel their boundaries and will always fo over them. And with heat that is something not to mess with, because heat and animals just doesn't go that well.

Tomorrow the weather will change through out the evening and thunderstorms will pass, like they always do in summer time when the land heats up. That is something that is always such a pity compared to for instance an island.

The fact that the land heats up extremely but there is also an ocean full of moist close by lets this explosive situation happen in the summer, often going with huge amounts of water. Just two weeks ago also the sky cracked and a lot of businesses were under water here. This totally sucks for them because they had just reopend for business after the lockdown. Talk about bad luck right there.

So until those thunderstorms reach we will just be hunting for water throught the day in between naps, and work in the night. For me honestly..this is *the* way to spend a working summer. Go for a swim, bbq for a bit, nap some...yeah the life. I guess doggo Sem doesn't mind either.
