Before going to Egypt, the pyramids were the main attraction I wanted to visit. I have to say that I was a little disappointed. First, it was impossible to visit all three pyramids, there is a rotation each day due to the amount of tourist. Secondly, there is nothing inside the pyramids, no hieroglyph, only one broken sarcophagus inside Cheops and only one way in and out of each one. On top of that, they are so close to the city of Cairo, you can see and smell all the pollution. I am still happy to have gotten the chance to see them live, I guess I had too high expectation!  I got the chance to visit the inside of Kheops and Khephren. As as said, there were no accessible tunnels, no beautiful sarcophagus, no inscription on the wall and the interior was very dark.  The sphinx stands in front of the great pyramids of the Giza plateau. Too bad we cannot get closer, I would have liked to explore more this section, but it is not possible. It's crazy that he's still intact after all these years.  We rarely see this angle. Normally, we normally sees the Sphinx from the front and do not realize the magnitude of the sculpture. Here we can see it very well!  Cheops is the most recognizable of the three, but they are pretty much the same inside. I did not take a camel ride to go explore the desert and take that shot. It was so hard, the sand was so soft, and the sun was very hot, but at least I now know how hard it is to walk in the desert 😊  It is nice to take a walk in the other direction to get a different point of view. Cool to be alone and not surrounded by tourist for a while.  It was a hot day but the walk was worth it. Interesting to see a different perspective on those; we see them so much on tv, from one angle only really it's nice to have a new look. It's a shame it was disappointing though but, still, it must have been pretty awe inspiring. I wonder what the locals think of them, and if they think the sphinx and stuff is so special having grown up there and lived with it all your life. Personally, I think the juxtaposition of dense urban centre and super-ancient building is pretty neat.

Egyptian art has always fascinated me and the pyramids are still a mystery to me. I just think it's a shame that the pyramids are not enhanced more and that we cannot venture further inside.
