You may say a lot of things about Elon and his actions, especially since he became the Twitter/X CEO. 

But I am sure that you will not disagree that giving the users the ability to monetize their content, was a very successful move. Not only did Elon increase Twitter's income (because I bet the verified users increased a looot), but he increased the content, and as a matter of fact the valuable & meaningful content.

I have written a couple of posts about Twitter monetization.
In short, and according to current data (as of September 16th 2023, date when this article is being written), to monetize your content you will need:
1. Subscribe to premium or verified organizations (this means from 9,92$ for individuals, to $1000 a month (for brands)
2. Have at least 5 M impressions on your posts within the last 3 months. (this means more than 55.555 impressions **per day**) 
3. 500 followers.

So, what are my plans?
Getting verified is the easiest thing to do! (I will show you the way right away!)

Having 5M impressions on my posts within the last 3 months? Hmm.. Not so easy. 
At the moment, my account has not been very active on twitter - so I have to change that asap if I want to have a chance. I need to post great content that ideally can become viral or at least get some decent views. 

In the meantime, I will share with you some of my statistics that come from a very 'inactive' twitter.

This will be a great experiment on how the numbers can grow with a better content strategy and a more frequent presence.

Now, let's go and see the process of being verified..

X has done it so easy for us! It's simply one option in the menu:

After you click on it, you see two different options. 
You will either be an individual or a brand. I will of course choose the 'individual' and then click on 'subscribe'

As a next step, you can choose if you will go with the monthly subscription ($9.92) or the yearly ($104,16 - discounted from $119,04)

For now I will go with the monthly one. If I see that this helps increasing my numbers and visibility, and using some tools that I need access to - then I will continue and consider going yearly. 

Before proceeding, let's take a quick look at what I ll get with my almost $10 a month.

> Premium

- Prioritized rankings in conversations and search
- See approximately twice as many posts between ads in your For You and Following timelines.
- Add bold and italic text in your posts
- Post longer videos and 1080p video uploads
- All the existing Premium features, including edit post, Bookmark Folders and early access to new features

As with every subscription, you need to pay attention to the fine print
<sub>**Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled, as described in the Terms**. Cancel anytime. A verified phone number is required to subscribe. If you've subscribed on another platform, manage your subscription through that platform.</sub>

You do not get verified immediately.
They will need to review your account and it will take a couple of days, so I will wait now and will get back with a new post with more information soon!

What I do not know is if you get a refund in case your account is not eligible for verification.
