Hive was born in 2020, but as a blockchain, it was alive many years before that. If you are reading this after you joined, perhaps you already know [its story](https://cointelegraph.com/news/steem-community-resists-takeover-hard-fork-launches-hive-network).

Today I will try to post answers to some frequent questions I see asked - and that my friend @demos76 who joined yesterday asked me! 

### Who can/should create an account in hive and Why?
There are no restrictions. Hive is a free blockchain, and anyone can create an account. By creating an account, you have access to all hive applications and dApps, you will have free transactions, you will be able to earn crypto through your content creation and your wallet will be your username.

### How can I create an account?
This was the first question by my friend.
There are many free and paid ways to create an account.

If you ask why so many and why some paid and some free: 
>  Hive accounts/addresses are easy-to-remember usernames (3 to 16 characters). They have to be created by another Hive account and have an associated cost.

> Some providers offer accounts for free which requires some verification to mitigate abuse, while other providers charge a small fee but require no verification.

You may choose any way that you find more convenient. I suggest either Create hive account or Sign up with Keystore. Why - because it gives you access to the LeoDex and you may also choose to receive your pay outs in currencies such as $dash.

### Do I have to create a separate hive wallet?

You have a hive wallet the moment you sign up. But there are some different ways to access your funds, and you can see some of the recommended wallets here:

Take a look at them, I would recommend https://hive-keychain.com/ for starters, as a browser extension that will for sure be useful in the future. (This is optional, you can take some time to familiarize yourself and worry about this afterwards)

### Where do I write?

If you are using inleo.io then use this field to write short posts about any topic. Before that, you can also scroll to take a look at other posts.

### What do I write?

Anything! 
Take your time, write smart and respectfully. Ask anything and feel at home! We are here to learn to have fun, to be entertained!

It would be nice if you can write a long (as long as you want - make it a few paragraphs at least) post about yourself. You are now a member of our community, it will be nice and noble to introduce yourself. Who are you, where did you hear about hive and what are your plans? What do you enjoy writing about?

### Communities

There many different post categories (communities) that you can check out and see what is being posted. Finance, Crypto (of course), Travel, Photography, Fitness... and you cannot believe how many others! 

### Payout - When will I be paid?
Every time you make a post, you activate a payout window of 7 days. 
The amount you will receive, depends on how many people have voted for you and how many $hive they have staked in their wallet. (More details about this soon)

### How many posts can I write?
Hive has free transactions, but the operations are not free. For every blockchain operation, resource credits are used (similar to Ethereum gas fees) - which are being replenished for every user every 24 hours. The more $hive you have staked, the more RC (Resource Credits) you have to spend. 

### Inleo 
Inleo can be a little slow sometimes. 
When you post and reply in the inleo.io website, you earn $leo (which is a Layer 2 token) in addition tot he $hive and $hbd that you earn for your every post.

If for any reason you cannot use inleo.io - you can use many different apps like:
- hive.blog 
- peakd.com
- ecency.com (it also has a mobile app)

### Where to buy $hive and $leo 

I suggest Binance but there are other options too.
