 Nikifor is an extremely popular Polish naive and primitivist painter. He has created over 40,000 paintings. He did not have an artistic education, but painting was his passion and he developed his own style. He is one of the most frequently adulterated artists from Poland. I admit that I did not always appreciate Nikifor, his works seemed too simple to me, they often looked as if they had been painted by a child ... but this is what is characteristic of naive painters and many people see something very real and original in such paintings. After seeing many of Nikifor's paintings at this exhibition at the Ethnographic Museum, I must admit that some of his works seemed very interesting to me and the artist won my sympathy. . *Nikifor to niezwykle popularny polski malarz naiwny, prymitywista. Stworzył ponad 40 000 obrazów. Nie posiadał wykształcenia artystycznego, ale malowanie było jego pasją i miał swój własny styl. Jest jednym z najczęściej fałszowanych artystów z Polski. Przyznam, że nie zawsze ceniłam Nikifora, jego prace wydawały mi się zbyt proste, często wyglądały tak, jakby namalowało je dziecko... ale to jest właśnie charakterystyczne dla malarzy naiwnych i wielu ludzi widzi w takich obrazach coś bardzo prawdziwego i oryginalnego. Po obejrzeniu wielu obrazków Nikifora na tej wystawie w Muzeum Etnograficznym, przyznam, że niektóre z jego prac wydały mi się bardzo ciekawe i artysta zdobył moją sympatię.*    The long descriptions placed on the side, next to the paintings, helped a lot in getting to know Nikifor's work and a better understanding of it. The descriptions were made in two languages, Polish and English. I learned from there, among other things, that "people closely watched appear in paintings showing the interiors of hotels, restaurants and cafes. Nikifor revealed in these works a sense of observation and did not shy away from humorous shots." I admit that I like these Nikifor paintings the most. Often times, such humorous portraits show to me much more than the realistic, beautifully painted, but simply boring ones. *W zapoznawaniu się z twórczością Nikifora i lepszym rozumieniem jej bardzo pomagały długie opisy zamieszczone z boku, przy obrazach. Napisy były wykonane w dwóch językach, po polsku i po angielsku. Dowiedziałam się stamtąd m.in., że "ludzie starannie obserwowani pojawiają się w obrazach ukazujących wnętrza hoteli, restauracji, kawiarni. Nikifor ujawniał w tych pracach zmysł obserwacji i nie stronił od humorystycznych ujęć." Przyznam, że te obrazy Nikifora lubię najbardziej. Niejednokrotnie o wiele mocniej przejawiają do mnie takie żartobliwe portrety niż te realistyczne, pięknie namalowane, ale po prostu nudne.*     The unusual elements in the paintings depicting architecture are also cool, like in this image below, with a man walking on the roof, with a huge mug of beer 😉 *Fajne są też nietypowe elementy na obrazach przedstawiających architekturę, jak na tym obrazie poniżej, z postacią chodzącą po dachu, z ogromnym kuflem piwa 😉*         This is a painting by Nikifor on which he painted a working tailor. By the way, you can see what tailors used to look like in the past. *To obraz Nikifora na którym namalował pracującego krawca.
