<div class="pull-left">  Todos los seres humanos, de alguna u otra manera, tratamos de huir del dolor y del sufrimiento, sin embargo, debemos aceptar que el dolor es parte de la vida. Del dolor también surgen grandes enseñanzas y nos prepara para ser cada vez más fuerte. Con esto no quiero decir que debamos ir en busca del dolor, eso tampoco es algo sano. Pero si considero que debemos adoptar una posición más honesta ante el dolor, aceptarlo como parte importante de nuestro paso por esta vida terrena.

Por el contrario, el sufrimiento es más subjetivo y puede suceder en distintos tiempos, es decir, a menudo sufrimos por cosas del pasado o peor aún sufrimos por cosas que imaginamos en el futuro. El sufrimiento tiene más que ver con la actitud que tomamos ante este dolor.</div>

<div class="pull-left">Todo este preámbulo hace referencia a una de las preguntas del concurso semanal de la comunidad Ladies of Hive, en la cual se nos pregunta sobre nuestra opinión personal referente al tema de la Eutanasia. 
Personalmente, considero que este es un tema muy delicado y controversial, por lo que debo aclarar que respeto la posición de cada ser humano con respecto a este tema. Creo que es necesario haber pasado por una situación real cercana (vivirlo en carne propia) para poder tener un juicio más objetivo al respecto.

Personally, I consider this to be a very delicate and controversial subject, so I must clarify that I respect the position of every human being with respect to this subject. I think it is necessary to have gone through a real situation close to us (living it in our own flesh) to be able to have a more objective judgment on the matter.

<div class="pull-left"> Debido a que me tocó vivir una situación muy dura y realmente dolorosa con mi padre, me siento con la libertad de expresar un poco mi opinión muy personal.
De la formulación de la pregunta, llamó mi atención la frase “evitar el dolor y sufrimiento innecesarios”. Esta frase también forma parte del discurso de las personas que están a favor de la Eutanasia. El dolor siempre ha existido, es inevitable, es parte de la vida, venimos a este mundo por el dolor de nuestras madres y a medida que vamos madurando seguimos enfrentándonos al dolor. Es normal querer huir del dolor, querer escapar de vivir experiencias dolorosas, evitar el dolor es algo instintivo y completamente normal. 


Por eso estoy convencida de que las personas que piden se les aplique este tratamiento, lo que realmente quieren es dejar de padecer, dejar de sentir dolor, dejar de ver a sus seres queridos sufriendo por ellos. Encuentran en esta alternativa una vía de escape y de liberación del dolor y del sufrimiento.

From the formulation of the question, the phrase "avoid unnecessary pain and suffering" caught my attention. This phrase is also part of the discourse of people who are in favor of Euthanasia. Pain has always existed, it is inevitable, it is part of life, we come into this world because of the pain of our mothers and as we mature we continue to face pain. It is normal to want to run away from pain, to want to escape from painful experiences, to avoid pain is something instinctive and completely normal. 

That is why I am convinced that people who ask for this treatment, what they really want is to stop suffering, to stop feeling pain, to stop seeing their loved ones suffering for them. They find in this alternative a way of escape and liberation from pain and suffering.

<div class="pull-left"> Todo esto lo digo con propiedad, ya que muchas veces oía a mi padre decir que ya no quería sufrir y no quería ver a sus hijos sufriendo a causa de su enfermedad. Nunca manifestó su deseo de morir o de dejar de existir, simplemente pedía no sufrir más. 

Yo me arrepiento de haberle cuestionado a Dios muchas veces, de haberle preguntado por qué lo mantenía con vida si estaba sufriendo tanto. No puedo negar que hubo momentos en que pensé que la muerte era la mejor solución a tanto dolor, pero verdaderamente no quería que mi padre muriera, solo quería que dejara de sentir dolor.
   </div>


<div class="pull-right"> I say all this with propriety, since many times I heard my father say that he no longer wanted to suffer and did not want to see his children suffer because of his illness. He never expressed his desire to die or cease to exist, he simply asked not to suffer anymore. 

I regret having questioned God many times, asking him why he was keeping him alive if he was suffering so much. I cannot deny that there were times when I thought that death was the best solution to so much pain, but I truly did not want my father to die, I just wanted him to stop being in pain.

<div class="pull-left">Después de todo el tiempo en que tuve que ver a mi padre, sufrir y padecer grandes dolores, también pude ver como su carácter se fue doblegando, como se fue volviendo cada vez más agradecido con la vida y con sus hijos por darnos la oportunidad de cuidarlo y de darle amor mientras vivió los últimos días de su vida. 
Repito que este es un tema delicado y que respeto la posición de cada quien, pero yo no puedo apoyar este tipo de métodos como escapatoria al sufrimiento. Por el contrario, estoy a favor de los cuidados paliativos para los enfermos terminales, permitiendo que estas personas puedan ser atendidas y comprendidas, donde se les enseñe a aceptar la muerte y el dolor como parte de la vida y asumirlo con dignidad hasta el último respiro.
