Saving money around the home is one of those things that can have a BIG impact on your finances! There are thousands of ways to save a few bucks!
 


 
 

- Buy used furniture,  fix it up and take care of it. If you need a change of pace, change the surroundings, do not upgrade the furniture because it adds up fast. Also IKEA is a great store to save some money! Although you may have to assemble it yourself.

- Take the time to downsize regularly your life by getting rid of unnecessary items, selling things, donating and giving away things. This will save you money because you will accumulate less. If you know you will have to sell that item later; you will be less likely to buy it in the first place. You can sell on eBay, Facebook, Offerup, Mercari, Listia, and Decluttr.
 

- Live near your workplace to save on transportation costs. It will also allow you to work multiple jobs if necessary. Or become self-employed and leave those jobs altogether!
 

- Be careful when hiring contractors, check their background and do not pay them in full until you are satisfied with the results. You can check reviews on Angie's list. Or ask them for samples of their work before hiring them.
 

- Learn how to do your maintenance. There are lots of books at Home Depot that will teach you how to repair all of your stuff! Plus books at the library.

- Dumpster dive for scrap parts, whether it is wood or other items that will help you fix anything or decorate. Many things that people throw away every day can be converted into cool household décor; like glass bottles and plastic containers. Get creative!
 

- Reuse cottage cheese, sports drink, lotion and other product containers. You can cut them, paint them, hot glue material to them and turn them into cute organizing containers. Here is a cute article on how to turn a lotion bottle into a phone holder.
