When I first started doing coloring books, This didn't even cross my mind. I didn't even know what a vector was, Or what it could do for my books. Over timed I learned. The photo above was part of my second coloring book, To be honest, I'm embarrassed. The lamb is cute, But the drawing is so unprofessional.


Vectorizing your artwork allows you to "stretch" it as much as you want without loss of quality. Here are some of the before and after photos.

# Program #
For those of you wondering how you can create vectors, You can do it with Inkscape, (free) use the trace bitmap button. Or use the program I show above, Which is called Vector Magic. I paid like 200-300 for it. And I get lifetime uses out of it. I like it better than Inkscape Because it's dedicated purely to vectorizing photos. I'm not willing to stop using my photo editing program (gimp). I also like how it can batch vector photos for me, So I can work on other stuff while all of my drawings are automatically vectored for me.
I feel like it's more than paid for it's self.

# Vectorizing colored images! #
You can still vectorize stuff like Anime, It will look great, But for photographs it almost makes it look like a cartoon! It looks pretty cool, But it may not be the result you want. You can always play around with the vector magic program and see what it looks like! It's shapes of color!


# Conclusion #
I'm so happy I learned about vectors If I didn't know about them. Then My books wouldn't look as professional as they do now!
