Huge rain for the dogs at the Tiger Cave Temple

We do what we can to provide shelter for the dogs and cats at our primary "pet project" at the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi, Thailand but we are reaching that point in the year where the skies just open up and dump a waterfall of rain on us every now and then.  As a person, you quickly just realize that you are going to get soaking wet but dogs for the most part to like to be that way so they run to find shelter as best they can.

Mostly this consists of them finding some of the few overhangs that exist on the many temple buildings in the relatively massive facility, but I can't help but feel bad for them regardless.  I try to keep in mind that they little guys and girls in here actually have it a lot better than the other street dogs who might not be so lucky.  Those dogs are searching for a car or tree to hide under and with rains as strong as this, I don't think that would actually protect them for very long.

Parts of the temple complex started to flood and this is a normal thing.  It will subside once the deluge stops and this is an annual and kind of predictable thing.  This wasn't going to delay my food and snack delivery though and I fought through the rain to make the bi-weekly delivery.

I realized while standing here trying to get out of the rain a little bit myself about how futile this effort of trying to stay out of the rain actually is.  I'm currently under an overhang at this point in my journey and was still getting wet.  Thankfully this only lasted about an hour and then a bit later I had some extra special treats for our fur-covered friends at the temple complex.

The brave dogs ventured out of their hiding places to get one of their favorite snacks:  Fried chicken!   They always really enjoy this and I am sure it makes their otherwise gloomy day a bit better.

I love coming out here to the temple because it is one of our most successful projects to date.  All of the dogs here are in good health, get fed regularly, and all disease or injury is reported to us and we take care of it right away.  I'm still not sure how many dogs we actually have here because the complex itself is so huge there are probably a dozen or so dogs that are tucked away in caves in the back that I have never seen.   It's a big project, but the rewards  that are paid in love and wagging tails is more than enough compensation for our efforts.

Monsoon season must be tough for them as staying dry would be impossible. I am sure they are used to this by now and at least it is warm and I don't think you have extreme cold in Thailand.

Thank goodness for the zero cold.  It is extremely rare that it is ever cold here but the dogs, as you would guess, don't really enjoy being wet.   They grow up being used to being a bit damp at basically all times.

Hot fried chicken surprise on a cold rainy day, that is the VIP street dog experience. If dogs can tell stories to each other, surely this would be a day talked about for long after.

I bet their ears perk up any time a truck approaches and many of the dogs appear to have learned the sound of our engine as they come out of the woodwork anytime we go there.  I think that yes, word has already spread.
