I remember we had that interview and you said how people believe the game is getting a good credit score and maybe buying a house, but that's only one game. It's a great power that we have, that we can set our own standards for what makes us happy and what counts as success.

I think you really captured something unique with this writing. I love the comparisons between gaming and living. I am curious if you have any suggestions on how to politely remind people who are assuming NPC roles that they have the ability to play and achieve their wildest dreams. It seems so many players get stuck thinking that the whole point is the in-game money. I'm going to take some time to read some of your other articles in this series. Blessings.

Never thought of it before now. But, the term "player or playa" being used in the modern term is associated with pick up artists. Suppose my Elf Ranger will have to be on the lookout for Playa Characters! LOL

Awesome post. It has me thinking of how life has imitated art in my own reality. For instance,  back in middle school, Final Fantasy 7 was my favorite rpg. I liked it so much, I would sit in the same area leveling up all day. Eventually I felt strong enough to move forward. It probably took me over 60 hours to beat the game. Meanwhile my brother had done it in probably 30 hours or less. And in the real world it seems to be the same way for us. He’s making moves and moving ahead, and I’m just mentally preparing or just waiting on something... like in the game, he’s just moving, and I’m just preparing. I guess it’s all good as long as I “finish the game”(get to the same place).  Anyways, again, awesome post. Thinking of writing a small piece on similar things.

I wish I could be who I am. or better. I love the analogies.
I wonder how the Woodstock event would fit into the RPG and how would those characters who attended it be described.

I think people who didn't go, think Woodstock was about the music but from someone I know who went, it was about the people.

The most amazing thing she said was how many people were there, people with the common values of love and peace.

Kenny, I would argue that most people have been conditioned to be observers of life by tell-a-vision.  They have succumbed to the ease of the couch and hypnotic effect of the tell-a-vision vs. being out in life living it.  I sometimes run through my neighborhood at night and you can see the glow of the flat-screen mental prison in almost every window.  I am sure all the other players have friends who are TV bums where you go over to their house and their idea of an evening with friends is everyone watching the same tee-vee show, football game or movie vs. interaction with each other.  Sad to see so many people debilitated by medium and psychological tricks and tools of the advertisers and programmers like constant motion, cleavage, spectacle, etc.
