I've been on Steemit since August now, and I feel guilty every time I see a post like this, talking about comment-to-posting ratios. I am a pretty silent participant. I definitely would like to be more involved in the community, but my time is quite limited, and up until now, the thrill of Steemit, for me, has been producing content. I have been very fortunate in that I have consistently been rewarded for the content I have produced, but even if I weren't, riding the wave of motivation that Steemit has given me as been very rewarding personally. I'm still trying to figure out how to be more involved in the community with the time that I have. If anybody is familiar with my work and would like to collaborate. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

This is awesome and right where my head is at. I have only been on here a week but have run through the process trying to get a feel for things. I wrote a post about a wiki page I stumbled upon. I wrote about a paragraph, kind of short and copy pasted the wiki page. Turns out that is frowned upon and a bot warned me. Had I really sat down and wrote a solid interpretation of how it made me feel and just linked the wiki it would have most likely performed a lot better. I am currently working full time and raising two kids but the desire to succeed here is real and having a solid content base when this goes nova will go a long way I believe. Figuring out the motive is interesting, of course one wants to profit but your point of self improvement resonated with me. Also, what is money anyway? I have been involved in crypto long enough for the conventional ideas to fade away and a more general one appear. It's all relative to the three truths in the world, yours, others, and the truth. One can only know their own.

You bring up good points.  Although I am nowhere near 100,000 SP, I have still gained the attention of some whales, which I am very grateful for.  I added you to my follow list!

Thanks for this very clear look at how you approach curation. I really appreciate your support and encouragement. I've really been trying to *engage* with people here on Steemit and to develop an audience that *actually reads* what I write. I've also been trying to read more widely, and I have been excited at the range of ideas I find here. I truly believe that there is likely to be something that I can learn from almost anyone who is here with good intentions, even if we may be worlds apart in our ideology.

I resonate with these thoughts .. specially about who to follow and upvote.  I for one am not a fan of plagiarized posts - upvoting that is a slap to people who bother going to places, taking their own pics and writing their a**es off - I just don't get why plagiarize when it's too easy to cite sources.

I've been thinking of giving up something I started weeks ago 
for reasons I'd rather not divulge out here.  I have offered a few people that thing and none has said yes to me yet, if no one takes it - I might as well bare what am going through since I would only be left with "assisting" as my give back to the community.

Consider this resteemed not necessarily cause i want to get noticed but for all the values you mentioned up there.

I write mostly about foraging, gardening, nature, and simple living close to the land. I believe that we can all have lives that are richer, more secure, more grounded, and more interesting by getting to know the plants and the land around us – in our yards, our parks, and our wilderness. Steemit can be the premier site for Foraging on the Internet. I curate for the @foraging-trail and the @gardening-trail to build communities about those topics.  Commenting is a big part of building communities and keeping people engaged and motivated. So even though I have fewer than 50 blog posts, I have nearly 2300 total posts.

Hi Kevin, I have met a few good people on here that I can connect with and I do try to leave comments and check out newer users (I'm not exactly an old hand).

I am amazed at the creativity found here and inspiring people and I have just met a new one - you - so am following and going through your blog.

Self improvement is my main aim at the moment and trying to make a difference in whatever way I can. I hope that this in time will be through my written words as I am far more comfortable writing, typing then speaking!

Congrats @kevinwong. Hope someday we can also reach that SP :) By the way, I am from Philippines and most of post nowadays are all about Filipinos culture, values and traditions. I am also posting Filipino creative literature.
