On this week's post topic in the Weekend community, we were asked to make a selection from a group of questions that reflected memories from our childhood and I chose to answer question one which says;

>What happy or valued childhood moment is your go-to or the first you think of when reminiscing about the fun times you had as a child or youth. What was the moment, where did it happen, what happened in it and why is it so memorable?

Growing up I was privileged to have thrice as many good memories as the bad but the one that stands out to me as fun and memorable is a trip I took with my elder sister.

At the time of the trip, I was about 13 years old and I had never been on a road trip before this one so to me it was both an adventure and a major bonding experience with my sister.

The trip wasn’t particularly planned but happened as an outcome of a flooding in my country that resulted in my home being affected and at the time, most of the major roads were also flooded.

Due to this, my sister concluded that it would be the best decision to leave our state in the south where we were practically homeless and travel to the west because we had a place to stay but to do this we had to travel through over 10 States.

The trip took about three days with us having to crash at different hotels on our way but it was the best thing that happened to my childhood.

On our way, we met a lot of people from different cultures, learned different languages, and ate foods I had never eaten before which made this trip also a learning experience.

While writing this, I have a big smile on my face because just the thought of this trip gives me joy. 

I am so happy that I had the opportunity to experience that trip because it was a life-changing experience that I will never forget.
