Give Me Your Coding Knowledge - A Community Programming Resource Post

Tons of people on the STEEM network code in various different languages, the amount of sheer talent that's been attracted to this platform is something truly & utterly remarkable.

Users from all ages and coding proficiency exist here and the ability to share information freely without censorship is an incredible freedom that was far harder before the internet.

<center><h1>They Say It Takes 10 Years to Learn Any Language</h1></center> When I first started out programming over a decade ago I didn't really have much of a purpose with my projects. Like many  nerds born in the late 80's I had high aspirations of one day being a video game developer and I spent an absurd amount of time when I was younger hacking into games and modding them. Perhaps by luck I never ended going into the now saturated game development industry. 

Cryptocurrency came into the right my life in the right time when I was experiencing a bit of a life rut and ended up lighting the fire underneath me I needed to continue my adventure into the world of computer systems and programming them.

<center><h1>Encouraging Others to Start Coding & Developing</h1></center> Many people have great ideas that could make them very happy if only they could bring them into reality. Many can afford to hire programmers to come in and work on their project but for the rest of us unless you're willing to learn new skills and get hands on your ideas may forever simply remain ideas. If you want to learn how to code.. You can! All it takes is the want to learn and access to some resources.. Which is why this post exists!

<center><h1>Where Did You Start Learning to Code?</h1></center> For me I've always been the hands on type and a few resources that I've used are codeacademy.com and google to teach myself what I need to know. This is an open invite to share below in the comments section what you code in and what resources you utilized and learn from to get you to where you are today! Sharing knowledge is power & prosperity!

I just started to learn to code when I found Steemit. I did know a little HTML but now I'm really seeing thebig picture on how important to know a coding language is for the future as part of general human knowledge like history or math.

I think these days, web programming is the "sexy" thing for a lot of people to be into, but my skills are a bit more traditional / old-school than that (I can do basic HTML, JavaScript, PHP, etc but it's not my specialty).

I got my start with MS-DOS QBASIC in the early 90s.  Then progressed to learning C and C++, which remains my favorite language and the one I have the most experience with.  In the last several years I also started getting into Java and Scala for work projects.  I taught myself through actual physical books (*gasp*), mostly checked out from the computer section of public libraries (have any of you young uns even heard of libraries?).

In my college days I was obsessed with computer graphics, and spent countless hours tinkering with low-level graphics algorithms for drawing splines, metaballs, 3D math, texture mapping, etc.  I tried writing my own game engine once with DirectX and Visual C++ but never completed it.  Maybe one of these days I'll have to dust off some of those old projects and share them on here with you guys.

Also happy to discuss programming with anyone who wants to, and offer advice to those just starting out with it.  It's a fascinating and rewarding field of study!

I started off with batch files. I even once spent a while writing a text based rpg game that was pretty cool got the basis  and even a nice  battle system done too. I didnt go to far with it because I started messing with linux and wiped my hard drive like 100 times. Since then I've mostly been doing HTML5 and CSS. Along with just messing around with the linux terminal. I wish I got into java a little more though. Just getting into that now so I guess I have 10 years to go on that but now that I live a little more clean and less pollution in me it feels like my brain is working a lot better. BTW I Vote @klye for witness!!!!!! O yea I got my fucking upvote slider bar now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I  was just using freecodecamp.com to finish brushing up html and css but I'm not sure how I feel about there java section you have any ideas where is a good place to start help understand java better or well I need bare basics in java not sure how I feel with the youtube videos on java but maybe you could pick one out for me just because I'm not sure if I even understand the slightest bit about java yet. I'm not really pro with html and css either yet but theres pretty much where I am at. 
I feel like this post has been sent down from the heavens for me because I'm really trying to go hard into coding!!!

Klye, nice to see more Canadian coders around here on Steemit.  I've jumped into building a few tools for Steemit, ([Steemwriter](https://steemwriter.learnthis.ca/) and an upcoming automation tools I've not announced yet) so its great to have some skills to develop something in the crypto world, without having all the crypto understanding for deeper tools yet.  Its growing though, and I might be a little addicted, haha.  Good luck with your projects too, do you have tools out already or just looking to build some?  I've wondered about getting help or joint dev, but havn't seriously thought about it yet at all.  I do plan to "earn" something from these tools but using the platform to enable that.
