My country[Nigeria] is blessed with various natural resources. The availability of these resources is one of the reasons we still have some level of bragging rights when some issues are discussed. One of such natural resources is; **The River Niger**. Which played a huge part in the naming of country[Nigeria]. Aside from that, it is a key component to our petroleum resources. Some parts of the River cuts through my state[Delta Sate], so I'm blessed with the sights of it. 


As a kid, my dad usually took me and my siblings[sisters] to the shores of the River. Sometimes, it was for the purpose of sight seeing. At other times, we were there to purchase fish from the fishermen. 

The activities around the River bank was always fun to watch. Sadly, there weren't mobile phones with cameras on them. In fact, there were rarely mobile phones in circulation at that time. Even if they were, I was too young to have one in my possession. If I did, I'd have captured lots of amazing images.

Fast-forward to now that I'm all grown-up, and with a phone in my possession, I can take photos of the River bank whenever I wish. But then, adulthood really takes a lot of things off your mind. 

Well, I got to take photos of the River one time I was around one of its shores.  The photos would be my entry for the #monomad challenge.

These photos were totally unplanned. That day, I was travelling to a nearby city; Onitsha, to get some photography gear. But I couldn't complete the trip because there was serious traffic. To make matters worse, a truck had tumbled and broken down on the road.  There was literally no movement forward nor backwards. So me and my colleague had to take a long walk back to where we coming from. It was in the process of walking back that we came across the cross-section of River Niger(shown in the images above).  As always, it was a good sight to see.

Forget the smile on my face. It was a very stressful day
