It's my first week on the Hive, and I'm glad to be here. I signed up through the Esteem app, so it took me little time to know that the Hive  was similar to Steemit. But it was until yesterday I read a post that confirmed my suspicion. And I discovered that the Hive is actually a fork of Steemit. Well, the knowledge of that information didn't change a thing. 

Aside from discovering that Hive is a fork of Steemit, I also learnt that it's just one month old. It's amazing to know that a lot has been achieved under a short period of time. 

Being in a new platform, I think there's still time for a lot of improvements and adjustments in some areas that will be beneficial to the entire community.  One of such areas would be getting newbies settled on the platform. 

I'm not trying to compare the Hive and Steemit, but then some things just have to be said.  When I signed up on Steemit, I was able to perform transactions on the blockchain, thanks to already delegated Steem power. With the delegated steem power, I was able to interact on the blockchain and get started.

In here, it is totally different. I was surprised that after I published my [introductory post](), I was unable to do anything else. I had to wait for a almost 2 days to be able to make another post. Thus limiting my activities and level of interaction in the community.  I understand that the platform is just starting out, and maybe funding isn't enough to get every prospective newbie started with delegated Hive power.  I had to purchase Hive power so I could interact on the platform. And that's because I have foreknowledge of how the platform works. But then, I wonder how newbies who have zero knowledge about how the platform works would find their way? I know many of them won't read the FAQs though. Well, since I'm not thoroughly informed about all these, I can't say much. 

Another issue of being a newbie is lack of content interaction.

Like Steemit, I know this community is keen on original and valuable content. But then, I know how hard it is for a newbie to get interactions on his/her content, which might be valuable. I know how hard I struggled before I got my feet on Steemit. It took the encouragement of offline communities that I was part of to keep posting blogs. I don't think I'd have lasted more than a month on Steemit without their help.  Well, I don't wish for same thing to happen here on this platform. Especially since there aren't any offline communities(Nigerian communities on WhatsApp) that I could join. Maybe there are some out there, but I'm unaware that they exist. 


The value of content is subjective to the viewer. And there are no standard metrics to calculate if a content is valuable or not, but I just wish newbies would have a chance. I don't want to feel a stranger in here for too long. I'd love to see interactions on my posts. I WISH!


Well, after all said and done, this is just my first week. I'm hopeful things would be different soon.
