Este es un post que tenía a medio hacer desde hacía unas semanas, quizás esperando esta oportunidad, así que agradezco a @iriswrite por darme el impulso para terminarlo y participar en su iniciativa. De igual forma invito a @africapg a que participe.

💎Mi papá nunca me ha soltado la mano y eso que ya paso los cincuenta. Desde que tengo uso de razón, su presencia ha estado en todos  los momentos importantes y no importantes de mi vida. Siempre fui más de él que de mi madre, yo soy el varón que nunca tuvo. Con apenas cuatro años, aprendí a montar bicicleta y fue su mano la que me sostuvo luego de retirar las dos rueditas al triciclo, fue él quien secó mis lágrimas en las primeras caidas.

>Recuerdo que mi papá tenía una moto (sidecar) y de pequeña, siempre me llevaba con él a casi todos los lugares a donde iba. Era yo, luego de crecer un poco, su ayudante de mecánica. Gracias a él aprendí el nombre y utilización de todas las llaves y pinzas que se usan para arreglar motos. 


Vivíamos en un pueblo de campo donde había una vaquería que nos proporcionaba leche fresca. Leche que mi papá buscaba, a diario, para que a mi hermana y a mí no nos faltara. Siempre me gustó tomar la leche en biberón, y lo hacía acostada en sus piernas, mientras él se entretenía con mi pelo rizo y yo terminaba dormida en sus brazos.
Cuando me enfermaba, que no fueron muchas veces, fui una niña bastante sana, era él quien me llevaba al médico porque  mi madre se quedaba cuidando a mi hermana.

>En cierta ocasión, una pequeña mariposa, de esas que se posan en las lámparas de luz, se le ocurrió  posarse en mi oreja. Esto me provocó cosquillas, enseguida intenté quitarla y lo que logré fue que entrara al oído. De inmediato me empezó un dolor terrible y mis padres no sabían que hacer. Sin que mi mamá se diera cuenta, ya mi papá había encendió el motor y en menos de media hora, recuerden que vivíamos lejos de la urbe, llegamos al hospital pediátrico más cercano. Durante el trayecto yo sentía el aleteo del animalito y el dolor era insoportable, mi papá me miraba con compasión y desespero. Al llegar, fui atendida por una doctora y una enfermera, muy amables, y me hicieron un lavado a presión con una jeringuilla.  Mi pobre padre me abrazó con fuerza después del susto.


Bartolo, que así se llama mi papá, más conocido como "bartolito"por su baja estatura, es un hombre grande, no por su tamaño sino por su corazón,  sabio y trabajador, hacerdor de amigos y respetado por todos los que lo conocen, le gusta cuidar de la tierra y los animales.

Era él quien me iba a ver a la escuela (internado) y me llevaba el desayuno a diario durante toda la primaria. Recuerdo con añoranza y nostalgia aquellos termos llenos de  Quaquer(avena) que preparaba mi mamá para que él nos los llevaba a mi hermana y a mí en la beca. Era él, quien me recogía los viernes en la escuela (en el motor, por supuesto) (puedo decir, literalmente, que crecí montada en esa moto) y junto a mi madre también, quién me sacaba los piojos los fines de semana.

Cuando llegué a la secundaria, me  becaron en un lugar llamado Zacatecas, muy lejos, y para llegar había que atravesar muchas montañas. Cuando llovía, la moto no podía subir aquellas lomas llenas de fango y un campesino, amigo de él, le prestaba un caballo e iba a verme cargado  de comida y de cariño. Adolescente al fin, me apenaba que fuera a verme en ese animal. ¡Que bobería!

Fue él quien me compró el paquete de íntimas cuando mestrué por primera vez. Nunca me gustaron las matemáticas y para mí suerte, mi papá es graduado de Contabilidad. Por eso, con su paciencia infinita, me explicaba, una y otra vez, los problemas, ecuaciones, derivadas, etc.

El preuniversitario lo pasé becada en Palma Soriano y hasta allí iba mi padre a verme en su moto también. Él siempre limpió el camino para evitar que las espinas me lastimaran, aunque eso, a veces, fuera inevitable. Como olvidar el gesto firme sosteniendo mi mano cada vez, y no han sido pocas,  que la vida me dio un golpe bajo. En esas manos aprendí que la fortaleza no es ausencia de ternura, sino su compañera silenciosa.


Mi padre y yo hemos compartido alegrías y tristezas, silencios y algarabías. No hay nada que oprima más mi corazón que verlo llorar, como todas las veces que lo veo sufrir en silencio por la pérdida de mi hermana.


>El amor hacia  mi papá tiene una raíz profunda, es espejo de valores y es mi refugio perpetuo. Es saber que, aunque el tiempo pase y los roles cambien, él es esa mano que siempre estará ahí para mí, recordándome de donde vengo y que soy y seré su hija amada sin condiciones. Mi amor hacia él no necesita fanfarrias ni poemas épicos. Es un latido constante, profundo y seguro, como el rumor del mar contra el "diente de perro". Su amor es mi primera certeza, es el hilo dorado que une el pasado de juegos con el presente de charlas de adultos.

Lo he visto enfrentar los desafíos del mundo y del país con esa dignidad callada, con esa ética inquebrantable que no necesita discursos. Aprendí a ser una mujer integra no por lo que decía, sino por lo que hacía, me enseñó que "palabra dada, es palabra empeñada". Hoy comprendo los sacrificios que jamás mencionó, las noches en vela, los sueños quizás pospuestos. Y ese amor se llena de una gratitud inmensa, un "gracias papá" que late cada vez que voy a su casa (a diario) en cada taza de café o cada cerveza compartida.

Con los años, el amor hacia un padre crece y se transforma, se hace más consciente. Deja de ser la dependencia infantil para convertirse en un reconocimiento profundo. Veo las arrugas que el tiempo y las preocupaciones tallaron en su rostro, las canas que sustituyeron su cabello negro, y un respeto nuevo se mezcla con cariño.

A veces olvido que crecí, que tengo unas libras de más y quiero que me cargue como lo hacía antes. Él no hace más que reír, pero sé que pase lo que pase, hay un lugar en el mundo(su abrazo) donde seré, incondicionalmente, su niña.
Y claro que no es perfecto ni yo tampoco, en algunos momento no hemos estado de acuerdo, pero mi admiración y gratitud hacia él es más grande que cualquiera desavenencia.

Cada recuerdo con mi padre lo atesoro como piedra preciosa que enriquece mi existencia. Es mi héroe, no porque volara como Superman o porque tuviera superpoderes, sino porque me ha cuidado y me cuida con firmeza, ternura  y jamás, falta a su palabra.

Yo podría seguir hablando de mi padre, pero no quiero agotarlos ni aburrirlos. Así que hasta aquí dejo este sincero homenaje. Agradezco, una vez más, a @iriswrite la oportunidad.

Today, I come back to this community with great pleasure to share part of myself with you all.

This is a post I had half-written for a few weeks, perhaps waiting for this opportunity, so I thank @iriswrite for giving me the push to finish it and participate in her initiative. I also invite @africapg to participate.

💎My dad has never let go of my hand, and I’m over fifty now. For as long as I can remember, his presence has been in all the important and unimportant moments of my life. I was always more his child than my mother's; I am the son he never had. When I was barely four, I learned to ride a bicycle, and it was his hand that steadied me after removing the training wheels from my tricycle; it was he who wiped away my tears from my first falls.

>I remember my dad had a motorcycle (with a sidecar), and when I was little, he always took me with him almost everywhere he went. As I grew a bit older, I became his mechanic's assistant. Thanks to him, I learned the names and uses of all the wrenches and pliers used to fix motorcycles.

We lived in a country village where there was a dairy that provided us with fresh milk. Milk that my dad fetched daily so my sister and I would never go without. I always liked drinking milk from a bottle, and I would do it lying on his lap while he played with my curly hair, and I would end up falling asleep in his arms.
When I got sick, which wasn't often as I was a very healthy child, it was he who took me to the doctor because my mother stayed home caring for my sister.

>On one occasion, a small moth, the kind that lands on light lamps, decided to land at the entrance of my ear. This tickled me, and I immediately tried to brush it away, but I only succeeded in making it crawl *into* my ear. I immediately felt terrible pain, and my parents didn’t know what to do. Before my mom even realized what was happening, my dad had already started the engine, and in less than half an hour (remember, we lived far from the city), we reached the nearest pediatric hospital. During the trip, I could feel the fluttering of the little creature, and the pain was unbearable; my dad looked at me with compassion and desperation. When we arrived, I was seen by a very kind doctor and nurse who gave me a pressurized flush with a syringe. My poor father hugged me tightly after the scare.
Bartolo, that's my dad's name, better known as "Bartolito" because of his short stature, is a wise and hardworking man, a maker of friends, and respected by all who know him. He loves caring for the land and animals.

It was he who came to see me at school (boarding school) and brought me breakfast daily throughout elementary school. I remember with fondness and nostalgia those thermoses full of Quaker oats that my mom prepared for him to bring to my sister and me at the dorm. It was he who picked me up from school on Fridays (on the motorcycle, of course) (I can literally say I grew up riding that motorcycle), and alongside my mother, who would de-louse me on weekends.

When I started secondary school, I got a scholarship in a place called Zacatecas, very far away, and to get there, you had to cross many mountains. When it rained, the motorcycle couldn't climb those muddy hills, and a farmer, a friend of his, would lend him a horse, and he’d come see me loaded with food and affection. Being a teenager, I was embarrassed that he came to see me on that animal. How silly!

It was he who bought me my first pack of sanitary pads when I got my period. I never liked math, and ironically, my dad has an Accounting degree – a great irony of life. So, with his infinite patience, he explained problems, equations, derivatives, etc., to me over and over again.

I spent my pre-university years on scholarship in Palma Soriano, and my father would come see me there on his motorcycle too. He always cleared the path to prevent the thorns from hurting me, though that was sometimes unavoidable. How could I forget the firm gesture of him holding my hand every time – and there have been many – life dealt me a low blow? In those hands, I learned that strength is not the absence of tenderness but its silent companion.
My father and I have shared joys and sorrows, silences, and celebrations. Nothing oppresses my heart more than seeing him cry, like all the times I've seen him suffer silently over the loss of my sister.
>My love for my dad has deep roots; he is a mirror of values and my perpetual refuge. It is knowing that, although time passes and roles change, he is that hand that will always be there for me, reminding me where I come from and that I am and always will be his unconditionally beloved daughter. My love for him needs no fanfare or epic poems. It is a constant, deep, and steady beat, like the murmur of the sea against the "diente de perro" (coastal rock formation). His love is my first certainty, the golden thread connecting the past of childhood games to the present of adult conversations.

I have seen him face the challenges of the world and our country with that quiet dignity, with that unbreakable ethics that needs no speeches. I learned to be a woman of integrity not by what he said but by what he did; he taught me that "your word is your bond."
Today, I understand the sacrifices he never mentioned, the sleepless nights, the dreams perhaps postponed. And that love fills with immense gratitude, a "thank you, Dad" that beats every time I go to his house (daily), in every shared cup of coffee or beer.

Over the years, love for a father grows and transforms; it becomes more conscious. It ceases to be childish dependence and turns into deep recognition. I see the wrinkles that time and worries carved into his face, the gray hair that replaced his black hair, and a new respect mingles with affection.

Sometimes I forget I've grown up, that I have a few extra pounds, and I want him to carry me like he used to. He just laughs, but I know that no matter what happens, there is a place in the world (his embrace) where I will unconditionally be his little girl.
And of course, he's not perfect, nor am I; there have been moments when we disagreed, but my admiration and gratitude for him are greater than any disagreement. Every memory with my father I treasure like a precious stone that enriches my existence. He is my hero, not because he could fly like Superman or had superpowers, but because he has cared for me and still cares for me with firmness, tenderness, and he never breaks his word.

I could go on talking about my father, but I don't want to exhaust or bore you. So, I'll end this sincere tribute here. Once again, I thank @iriswrite for the opportunity.
