No one can deny the role that Nature and Nurture play in someone's development, however, one's nature is not fixed and we often overlook a component that has far more impact on one's identity.

Free will is a metaphysical concept and resides in the consciousness of all sentient beings. With it comes the understanding that we possess the power to choose the course of our development through conscious effort. 

It is the cornerstone of sound moral philosophy, the testing point of every virtue and makes us accountable for our actions. The only inherent human nature is our nature not to be contrained by our nature as our thoughts and actions are constantly rewiring our DNA.

Free will is best represented within our character as it speaks to the development of an individual and doesn't arrive fully formed at birth but is sculpted like a stone tablet through the choices we make in life.

I recently watched an old interview featuring Muhamad Ali discuss race and how races have an inherent nature to seek out their own race. He argued that interracial cohabitation was unwise as doing so was unnatural and rife with many social challenges.

I could not disagree more with the notion. As an infant, I was naturally drawn to people of all races and it's self evident that children before social indoctrination are without racial prejudice.

There are no racial or species barriers to friendship.  It's societies that mould these biases into their children.

The United States thrived during the 20th century by being a melting point of diverse cultures and influences. We grow as people and as a society when we expose ourselves to ideas that challenge and strengthen our immunity, not by shutting out cultures foreign to us. 
Japan's growth stagnated in the 17th century due to its Sakoku isolationist foreign policy. 
This shut down trade with other cultures for 200+ years until the 19th century where it had to take drastic efforts to reinigrate itself and compete with the world.

Growth takes place through adversity and acountablity. Not through isolation and victim mentality.
