 Love is not the highest value, liberty is. Liberty is the doctrine of free will and free will is the testing point of every virtue. It's what distinguishes a job from slavery, taxation from theft and sex from rape. One cannot truly love if one is not free to choose love. The founding fathers were not only warriors and wise men, but they were lovers that had the will to fight for what they loved above all else.
