*“I now pronounce you Man and Wife.”* Kelvin woke up panting like an Antelope that narrowly escaped the high chase of a Cheetah. It’s been like this for the past month. His dreams of her, continued to break his dawn, making him even more skeptical about closing his eyes to respect the laws of the night.
Kelvin is a man of few qualities, he is hardly understood even as a kid growing up in a very austere neighborhood, he crawled his way out of every obstacle without feeling burdened about his manner of approach. He grew up alone on the streets fending for himself and working day and night to make sure that his next meal is assured.
His continuous effort into sustaining his livelihood alone in the wilderness he found himself as a kid, led him into the hands of Mr K.
On a Saturday evening, while Kelvin was tending to Mr K’s affairs in the Garage, a young woman drove into the Garage and parked the car without noticing Kelvin whom she almost hit on her way in.
*“Hey you there, where is Mr K?”* Her eyes scans the auto shop as she asks without looking directly at Kelvin's face.
*“He is off to take care of some business in town. I’m his apprentice. What can I do for you?”*
*“His apprentice? I haven’t seen you here before.”*
*“Well that’s because I’m new here.”*
*“Oh okay.”* She takes a few steps close to Kelvin and for the first time noticed his beautiful brown eyes, his athletic build and the muscles on his arms that made him look like a knight but without any of the shining armour.
*“Out of town you say? No worries then. My name is Jane”* she extended her hands to Kelvin for a shake but he looked at her and got drawn to the car she came in with.
*“What’s wrong with the car?”* He asked her as he walked towards the car which looks to have lost its headlight from what seemed to be collision with a hard surface due to the scratches left on the bumper.
*“Well, I was in a heated argument with a friend over the phone and didn’t notice the blockade ahead of me in time. A couple of swerves later, I crashed the car on the side of the intercession.”*
*“Wow. Hope you’re okay?”* Kelvin asked her and for the first time showed a bit of concern over her.
*“Yeah I’m okay. Look I’m sorry about earlier. I was a little angry and frustrated, that’s why I acted the way I did.”*
*“Nah it’s cool. I understand. Oh and by the way, my name is Kelvin.”* He said to her as he beckoned her to sit on the chair close to Mr K’s office. He worked on the car for hours. At around 6pm when the sun was just giving up her throne for the moon to resume her reign, Kelvin completed the car and closed the bonnet in a loud bang.
The sound jolted Jane who had been asleep to her feet.
*“I’m sorry about that.”* Kelvin said when he noticed the effect of the sound on Jane.
*“She’s good to go. I’ve replaced the damaged parts and used the opportunity to service the engine as well. It was way overdue for service.”*
*“Thank you so much. So how much do I owe you?” *
*“It’s on the house.”*
*“But you’re an apprentice. You don’t have the luxury of offering free repairs.”* She opened her wallet and gave him $500.
*“This should cover the cost of everything. Thank you again, I really appreciate the help.”*
She entered her car and drove away while she expected Kelvin to request for her contact, which he failed to do.
Minutes later, she drives back into the garage, winds down her window and hands him a piece of paper.
*“Call me.”* She said, and left the shop with her car.
Kelvin smiled and pocketed the paper while he resumed working on another car.
Days later, Kelvin was walking down the street to deliver a package from Mr K to a client. He had his headphones on as he listened to a song he wrote and sang. Jane’s car stopped at a traffic light to the intersection to her father’s house adjacent the road where Kelvin was walking. She saw him and called out to him in excitement.
*“Hi Kel, nice to see you again. Going somewhere?”*
*“Hey… Jane. Umm yeah, actually. I’m going to deliver this package to a client down the street.”*
*“Okay. Hop in. I happen to be going in that direction. Let me drop you off.*” Jane offered.
*“Really? Thanks. Wow, you look great.”* Kelvin said as he jumped into the car, excited about seeing Jane again. She blushed as she drove into the street heading to Kelvin’s location.
Days turned into weeks as Kelvin continued to sneak out of the autoshop to spend more time with Jane. Their affection blossomed into a beautiful and romantic relationships within three months of knowning each other.
As time went on, Mr K started to notice Kelvin’s unexplainable absence from work and this made him really angry. Mr K warned him that any more complaints about his negligent behaviour will force him to throw him out of his house. This did not in any way change the situation.
Meanwhile back at Jane’s home, she is being constantly compelled by her dad to consider marrying his boss’s son Andrew, in order to finally seal the deal on his next promotion which his boss had promised him on the condition that Jane marries his son. Jane’s love and determination to be with Kelvin remained strong even as the fear of saying ‘No’ to her beloved father got stronger.
As time went on, when Mr K discovered that the reason behind Kelvin’s absence and gross negligence of his work was due to his relationship with Jane, he went to Mr Stein, Jane’s father, and explained the situation to him. He needed his boy to be as obedient as he had been in order to continue carrying on his duties for him. Mr Stein, knowing the advantage this will have for him, plotted with Mr K to have Kelvin *‘removed from the picture’* and offered to give him a large sum of money along with an introduction to the very influential people in the city.
Jane, who had overheard the entire conversation between her dad and Mr K, ran out of the house to warn Kelvin who was still at Mr K’s auto shop working.
Upon hearing the news, Kelvin convinced Jane to elope with him to find their happiness elsewhere. She was reluctant at first due to her father’s many connections in the police department, but her desire to be with Kelvin rather than being with someone she had no feelings for led her to say yes. And they both fled into the night.
One month later, Jane and Kelvin found themselves in a remote little town, 500km from their escaped fate. They both looked at each other with such excitement and contentment, as they took the vow that would forever bind them as one. While both exchanged their vows before the priest whom they had begged to wed them, a shot was heard and Jane went down in shock. Paralyzed by the projectile from Mr Stein’s revolver. A bullet which was meant for Kelvin, and not his one and only beautiful daughter, ricocheted into Jane. His endless search for her over the course of the month made him furious. And his plan to execute Kelvin at all costs and to retrieve his daughter so as to finally get his promotion from his boss, blew up in his face. Mr Stein stood before the lifeless body of his daughter agonising in pain over what his greed had cost him.
Kelvin wept bitterly as he sat on the floor, his arms wrapped around Jane’s body.
*“Come on Jane, we’ve just been pronounced man and wife. Please don’t do this to me.”* He wept loudly as he squeezed her in his chest.
The day that would have been the happiest moments of their lives, turned out to be the darkest. The memory of which he is forced to live with for the rest of his life. True love lives on even when all seems lost.

"Guau. ¿Espero que estés bien?" Kelvin le preguntó y por primera vez mostró un poco de preocupación por ella. “Sí, estoy bien. Mira, lo siento por lo de antes. Estaba un poco enojado y frustrado, por eso actué como lo hice”. “No, es genial. Entiendo. Ah, y por cierto, mi nombre es Kelvin”. Le dijo mientras le hacía señas para que se sentara en la silla cerca de la oficina del Sr. K. Trabajó en el coche durante horas. Alrededor de las 6 p. m., cuando el sol estaba cediendo su trono a la luna para que reanudara su reinado, Kelvin completó el auto y cerró el capó con un fuerte golpe. El sonido sacudió a Jane que había estado dormida y se puso de pie. "Lamento eso." Kelvin dijo cuando notó el efecto del sonido en Jane. “Ella está lista para irse. Y su plan de ejecutar a Kelvin a toda costa y recuperar a su hija para finalmente obtener el ascenso de su jefe, explotó en su cara. El Sr. Stein se paró frente al cuerpo sin vida de su hija agonizando de dolor por lo que le había costado su codicia. Kelvin lloró amargamente mientras se sentaba en el suelo, sus brazos envueltos alrededor del cuerpo de Jane. “Vamos Jane, acabamos de ser declarados marido y mujer. Por favor, no me hagas esto.
