Why I put a candle in my window after 72 years

<p>May 4th, 1945 was when the 5 year German occupation of Denmark ended. My parents were both 10 years old.&nbsp;</p>
<p>What a happy day. The blackout curtains were not needed and people everywhere lit candles and placed in the windows.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The 2nd world war was at it's end and Denmark was free again. There was such feeling of hope for everlasting peace.</p>
<p>I light my candle in hope of Peace and Love for all. In the memory for all that lost their lives to protect their country.</p>
<p>And for my mom who lit a candle tonight alone and my dad who passed away 3 years ago. He was probably the youngest of the Danish freedom fighters. How I miss him.</p>
