¡Hola a todos los que hacen vida en esta hermosa comunidad! Una de las principales razones por la que estuvo pensada esta comunidad es para que tuvieran un sitio para soltar todas esas situaciones por la que pasamos cuando tenemos alguna enfermedad o alguna situación médica, es por eso que he querido hablarles de esta situación. Hace unos días tuve una pequeña intervención quirúrgica programada de un día a otro, puede sonar alarmante pero la realidad es que no lo es, o al menos así lo espero. Les contaré un poco la historia para que entren en contexto.

One of the main reasons why this community was thought is to have a place to release all those situations that we go through when we have an illness or any medical situation, that's why I wanted to talk about this situation. A few days ago I had a small surgical intervention scheduled from one day to the next, it may sound alarming but the reality is that it is not, or at least I hope so. I will tell you a little bit of the story to put it in context.

Desde hace muchos años he tenido una preocupación latente cada vez que me veo al espejo, porque resulta que a un lado de mi cuello, encima de la clavícula, empezó a salir un bulto muy pequeñito, lo sentía como una pelotica, o una masita, el hecho es de que aún viendo que estaba eso allí y quizás por miedo de pensar que pasara algo, no le dí importancia; luego que creció un poquito más, me empezó a preocupar porque a veces me dolía o me picaba, pero por problemas monetarios no podía acudir a un dermatólogo a que me revisara lo que tenía allí. Al principio era solo el bulto, y después empezaron a salir burbujitas, como si tuviera un barro profundo a punto de salir.

> For many years I have had a latent concern every time I look in the mirror because it turns out that on one side of my neck, above the collarbone, a very small lump began to appear, it felt like a little ball, or a small mass, the fact is that even seeing that it was there and perhaps for fear of thinking that something happened, I did not give it importance; After it grew a little bit more, it started to worry me because sometimes it hurt or itched me, but due to money problems I could not go to a dermatologist to have it checked. At first, it was just the lump, and then bubbles started to come out as if I had a deep mud about to come out.

Desde hace poco más de seis meses mi hermana empezó a trabajar en una clínica acá en la ciudad, y aunque ella ya sabía de eso, el día que fuimos a la playa se lo volví a comentar, le tomó una foto y me dijo que se la iba a mostrar a dos cirujanos plásticos que trabajan en la clínica con los que tiene mucha confianza. Y el jueves pasado en la noche ella me comentó que uno de los cirujanos me estaba esperando el día viernes al mediodía para extraerme eso.

> A little more than six months ago my sister started working in a clinic here in the city, and although she already knew about it, the day we went to the beach I told her about it, she took a picture and told me that she was going to show it to two plastic surgeons who work in the clinic with whom she trusts a lot. And last Thursday night she told me that one of the surgeons was waiting for me on Friday at noon to remove it.

Y así fue como me programaron una operación ambulatoria de un día a otro, así que el viernes me preparé para mover al otro lado de la ciudad en compañía de mi papá y de mi hermana que se iba a llegar al consultorio cuando llegara mi hora. Estuve en espera alrededor de media hora, mientras el doctor atendía a varios pacientes que tenía previstos para ese día, luego llegó mi turno y empezó la adrenalina a recorrer mi cuerpo.

> And so it was that I was scheduled for an outpatient surgery from one day to the next, so on Friday, I prepared to move to the other side of the city in the company of my dad and my sister who was going to arrive at the doctor's office when my time came. I was waiting for about half an hour, while the doctor attended to several patients he had scheduled for that day, then my turn came and the adrenaline started to run through my body.

Me examinó y dijo que el bulto podía ser cualquier cosa y que al extraerlo había que hacer una biopsia porque lo veía muy feo, así que obviamente me asusté, luego le dije que tenía alrededor de 10 años con ese pequeño bulto y fue cuando me dijo que me quedara tranquila porque si era tan viejo entonces no era nada, pero aún debo hacer la biopsia para saber que es. Mi hermana y mi papá estuvieron durante todo el procedimiento y aprovecharon de hacerme fotos. Me puso anestesia, dos veces porque la primera vez no fue suficiente, sacó la masita, y me agarró 4 puntos muy lindos, jajaja. No creo que me quede alguna cicatriz porque esas manos son expertas para ocultar cicatrices. El procedimiento fue muy rápido y mi hermana sirvió de asistente.
> He examined me and said that the lump could be anything and that when he removed it a biopsy had to be done because it looked very ugly, so obviously I got scared, then I told him that I had about 10 years with that little lump and that's when he told me to stay calm because if it was that old then it was nothing, but I still have to do the biopsy to find out what it is. My sister and my dad were there during the whole procedure and they took the opportunity to take pictures of me. He put me under anesthesia, twice because the first time was not enough, he took out the dough, and he took 4 very nice stitches, hahaha. I don't think I will have any scars because those hands are experts at hiding scars. The procedure was very fast and my sister served as an assistant.

El Doctor me indicó que solo tenía que poner bacitracina y ponerme una band aid luego de bañarme, que no me iba a doler pero que me iba a picar mucho. Esta última parte me causa mucha gracia porque fui a comprar las cosas, extra compré gasas para limpiarme con un poco de betadine que preparó el Dr. y curitas porque no tenía. Así que me tocó el cambio, muy cuidadosa lo hice, todo bien, al día siguiente me limpié, me puse mi bacitracina, y una de las curitas que compré. Todo el día transcurrió tal cual lo había previsto y tal como me dijo el doctor, me picaba muchísimo, tanto que me rascaba constantemente al rededor de la herida, nunca encima de ella.. Como hice muchas cosas ese día, me iba a volver a bañar, por lo que me tocaba cambiar la curita, cuando me la quito para limpiarla noté que había hecho una reacción alérgica al material y que tenía una erupción en toda la zona. Así que sí, me picaba mucho, pero no era la herida la causante de la picazón, sino la bendita curita que había comprado.

> The doctor told me that I only had to put bacitracin and a band-aid after bathing, that it was not going to hurt but that it was going to itch a lot. This last part is very funny to me because I went to buy things, I bought extra gauze to clean myself with some betadine that the Dr. prepared and band-aids because I didn't have any. So it was my turn to change, very carefully I did it, everything was fine, the next day I cleaned up, put on my bacitracin, and one of the band-aids I bought. The whole day went as I had planned and just as the doctor told me, it was very itchy, so much so that I was constantly scratching around the wound, never on top of it. As I did many things that day, I was going to take a bath again, so I had to change the band-aid, when I took it off to clean it I noticed that I had made an allergic reaction to the material and I had a rash all over the area. So yes, it was very itchy, but it was not the wound that caused the itching, but the blessed band-aid I had bought.

Recién operada, bandita puesta por el Dr. / Newly operated, band-aid put on by Dr. | Así resolví, gasa con Hypafix. / That's how I solved, gauze with Hypafix.

Al final terminé resolviendo con gasas y un material adhesivo que tenía en casa llamado *Hipafix* que sirve para proteger áreas grandes de la piel. Desde que estoy usandolo, dejo de picar, solo siento una leve molesta porque obviamente hay una pequeña herida en mi piel.
> In the end I ended up resolving with gauze and an adhesive material I had at home called *Hipafix* that serves to protect large areas of the skin. Since I've been using it, I've stopped itching, I only feel a slight discomfort because there is a small wound on my skin.

El viernes, luego de mi cirugía, pasé todo el resto del día con mucha ansiedad, me preocupa todo lo que pueda aparecer en esa biopsia, así que volvió el inquieto episodio de presión en el pecho y angustia desmedida, por lo que tuve que hacer repetidas veces ejercicios de respiración para tranquilizarme. Muy dentro de mí, la verdadera razón por la que no había hecho esto antes es por no saber que resultado puede arrojar el estudio y prefería no pensar en eso que buscar las maneras de salir de esa situación. Reecomiendo no darle tantas largas a los problemas de salud que tengamos, a veces caemos en las excusas para no hacer algo, cuando en realidad siempre hay maneras de solucionar las cosas. Agradezco mucho al Dr. Boris Quintero, Cirujano Plástico muy reconocido tanto en Venezuela como en latinoámerica por atenderme con tan poco tiempo de notificación. En cuanto estén listos los resultados de la biopsia se los haré saber. Un abrazo a todos y a cuidar de nuestra salud.

> On Friday, after my surgery, I passed the rest of the day with a lot of anxiety, I was worried about everything that might show up in that biopsy, so the restless episode of chest pressure and excessive anxiety returned, so I had to repeatedly do breathing exercises to calm myself down. Deep down inside me, the real reason I had not done this before was that I did not know what the result of the study might be, and I would rather not think about that than look for ways to get out of the situation. I recommend not to give so much time to the health problems we have, sometimes we fall into excuses for not doing something, when in fact there are always ways to solve things. I am very grateful to Dr. Boris Quintero, a Plastic Surgeon very well known in Venezuela and Latin America for attending me with such short notice. As soon as the results of the biopsy are ready I will let you know. A hug to all and take care of our health.
