If you're going to achieve big things in life, it's imperative that you have clear, defined goals. Goals that allow you to know where you stand and how you're progressing.

There's a school of thought that says that creating goals is a bad thing because then you'll be disappointed if you don't achieve them. Here's why I don't agree.

1) If you have a goal that you're absolutely dying to achieve, you'll do everything in your power to make it happen. You'll forget about excuses, push unimportant things to the side, and deliver.

2) You'll get farther than you would have if you didn't make that goal. If you really gave it 100% of your effort, then you've done all you can. 

Goals help you filter out what is unimportant and give you a target to shoot at. This helps you streamline your efforts so that they're pushing you to where you truly want to be and what you truly want to achieve.
