One moment, one new thought, one powerful conversation. We live in a time when one breakthrough can be the difference between living out our dreams or staying in our comfort zone. One action that we either take or don’t take each and every second can shape our destiny.

Is this scary or exciting? I dunno. I think like everything else it goes back to your perspective. Do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset? Is each day a blank slate for shaping the life you want or more of the same?

We Millennials might have it tough when it comes to the “traditional economy.” Student loan debt, unaffordable housing, stale salaries… It can all feel really bleak if you look at the negatives.

But how about the positives? Technology that has made it easier than ever to learn anything, anywhere. You can LITERALLY learn any single skill or piece of information that has ever been conceived by humans. How about social media that can connect you to anyone around the world, instantly? That’s freaking amazing. Nobody could remotely fathom this when the internet was created in the 90’s.

What about the gig economy? I live in Santa Monica, California and just ordered 4 batteries to charge Lime scooters while I sleep. Do I know if this is actually going to make money yet? No, but I have the option to try it out. Sites like Fivver or Upwork can launch completely new and exciting careers doing things that you actually like to do.

From what I can see, today there’s an abundance of opportunity out there with a serious scarcity of action. It’s really hard though. After a long day of work there’s nothing better than throwing yourself on the bed and curling up with Netflix.

Want to know the hard truth though? Unless you have your dream job and everything is perfect professionally, the work hasn’t even started yet. Your time is precious and that time after work is either going to start leading you down the path to your dreams, or keep you exactly where you are. The good news is that when you finally start taking action and planning out what you really want, that natural energy will take hold of you after work. Ironically, it often makes you better at your day job too. You start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You get this infectious energy that transforms everything.

One opportunity my friends. That’s all it takes. Seize the day.
