Debt weighs you down and puts you in a compromised position. It's never good to be in a compromised position. You want to have complete control over each and every situation in your life. 

There are differences between good debt and bad debt however. Credit card debt=bad. Leveraged debt used intelligently to buy assets= good.

Wouldn't you rather be completely free than not?
