We live in a noisy, noisy world. Seriously, this place is crazy. We have AI and Robots and Cryptocurrency and Donald Trump and Amazon and etc… It seems the world is a treadmill set to maximum speed and we have to sprint at full pace just to stay upright and conscious.

More than ever, we need the ability to put on blinders and focus in with laser precision on what we want. The number one skill that is going to differentiate the ultra-successful from the average in the coming years is the ability to block out noise.
People call today the “Information Age”, the age of the “Knowledge Worker”, the age of instant human communication. In the palm of your hand right now you have the key to anything you could ever want to know. You have access to the entire library of shared knowledge that humans have ever assembled. That is f*cking crazy. It can be overwhelming.

The overload of information and opinion creates widespread Analysis-Paralysis resulting in chronic overthinking and underaction (did I just create a new word?). Noise creates indecision. We often think when we analyze situations we’re doing this because we believe we’re saving time or optimizing our pathway for the best results. I think deep down we do it because we’re scared to make mistakes. Sometimes I do it because I’m too lazy to take action or lose my momentum.

The loudest noise often isn’t from the outside world, it’s from our own minds. If the biggest problem you have is noise from the outside world you’re likely well on your way to success already. Conquering the noise in our own minds is the key. In an increasingly elaborate world, simplicity and focus are becoming the most valuable commodities around.

What do you mean by the noise in our own minds? 

I've noticed I always feel a lot better by myself, with the noise in my head, rather than trying to take in some information from the outside world. Though I still feel an urge to learn as much as possible all the time and I don't feel on my way to success yet. :)

Lately I'm more on a way of cutting down on the information I get. It's too much of it out there. I feel better trying to think my way out of a situation than trying to get some information from outside that could help me solve that situation. I get down more to my own trial and error than reading about it. It feels more and more simple that way in the last couple of months.

I must admit that I'm more of a minimalist and a lover of simplicity and that I 'recharge' myself when I'm alone with no tech around. :)

Is trying to learn as much as possible still part of the noise in our heads? Is it a method of running away from the noise in our minds?

Hey Vlad, I'm a Minimalist as well! I think learning as much as possible is the goal. Personally, learning new things or building on my skills is when I'm happiest.

I agree about too much information out there. It paints our world as negative when we're actually better off then ever!
