Yes of course you are right but Dash is just getting started.
Dont forget that sometime in the summer Dash is to launch Dash Evolution and that will place it as the first real crypto competitor for Paypal. Also it is bringing out a credit card that can be used to  buy goods direct in shops without it going through a Bitcoin exchange. 
It is also said that Coinbase is to add it to its list in the very near future.
Dash tech is outdated compared to Steem but it is advanced compared to Bitcoin. Also in the real world to the normal guy in the street all crypto is advanced compared to fiat money. Dahs has the eco system and structure to be able to live in both worlds. This point is vital. Only when Steem has this will it really take off. 
I dont think Banfield is paid by Dash, if you check the guy out he is a bit of an eccentric character to likes to try out things and got into Dash as an experiment and got lucky. He is a natural salesman that is all. However, he has brought a lot of newbie money into the crypto market and that has to be seen as positive for the crypto space in general.
When Dash Evolution makes it easy for the guy in the street to understand and use crypto altcoins, then this will then naturally lead them to see how easy Steem is. 
Honestly, we should be helping Dash for it is both making its own future as well as destroying it at the same time. It will have its day to shine but it will be short lived. It will have its place in history as a stepping stone towards easier and more advanced coins. 
The crypto world is fast moving but the real world is slow to catch on. Dont be an ememy of any altcoin. Fiat money is the real enemy.
