<p>Trágicos días que azotaban con intensidad los corazones maltrechos de los inocentes. Fárragos de expresiones y atenciones, caminar sin sentido de un lado a otro, desorden y olvido; eran las huellas de un daño que no podían ignorar.</p>
<p>Lágrimas corrían por las mejillas de la abuela, heredera de penosas posesiones y riquezas pletóricas de desdicha. Un tiesto, una mesa, un campo reseco; un nieto que olvidara la existencia de la lógica y la decencia.</p>
<p>Frente a la casa lo espera con temor. Frente a la casa se convierte en estatua viviente sin vida, sin sueños, sin pensamientos propios. Mirando al horizonte de donde han llegado noticias de que su muchacho se ha ido a probar fortuna; su muchacho sin conciencia, prisionero de la locura. Buscando una nueva mezquita para rezar pidiendo ayuda.</p>
<p>El Sol y la arena caliente se divierten con sus murmullos. Su caminar errante delata le cerca que esta la muerte, lo cerca que está el final. Finalmente observa su mezquita anhelada frente a las dunas, en el aire, bajo el cielo. Está seguro de que es real, aunque no lo sea.</p>
<p>No volverá para contar su sueño, no volverá para agitar de nuevo sus brazos, no volverá nunca a pisar el suelo que le brindara abrigo y dátiles frescos en verano.</p>

Tragic days that lashed with intensity the battered hearts of the innocent. A waste of expressions and attentions, senseless walking from one side to the other, disorder and oblivion; these were the traces of a damage they could not ignore.

Tears ran down the cheeks of the grandmother, heiress of painful possessions and riches full of misfortune. A flowerpot, a table, a parched field; a grandson who would forget the existence of logic and decency.

In front of the house he waits for it with fear. In front of the house he becomes a living statue with no life, no dreams, no thoughts of his own. Staring at the horizon from where news has come that his boy has gone to try his fortune; his boy without conscience, prisoner of madness. Looking for a new mosque to pray for help.

The sun and the hot sand amuse with their murmurs. His wandering walk betrays how close death is, how near the end. Finally he sees his longed-for mosque in front of the dunes, in the air, under the sky. He is sure it is real, even if it is not.

He will not come back to tell his dream, he will not come back to wave his arms again, he will never again step on the ground that gave him shelter and fresh dates in summer.
