In my opinion avoid ethereum completely. Its use case (=real life use) will be tiny in the forseeable future compared to bitcoin and steem. It does have some strong backing funds but that doesn't change the fact that its use will remain limited for quite a while.

Steemit and Ethereum are two most promising systems. Steemit builds complex economical ecosystem whihe Ethereum is for EVM - Ethereum Virtual Machine. To invest in Ethereum means invest do Dapps. It's exciting but there are more risk because more time and work is required to evaluate perspectives of Dapps you want to invest. Story with TheDAO is excellent illustration.

Have a loock in to Nexus Niro, the black horse of Crypto, Nexus pretends to bring the blockchain to the space in cube satellites, this is quite great because will be like GeoBitcoin or Geo Blockchain, but the interesting thing is this about Nexus, How you can make money in Africa or how people living in remote areas can have access to banking  if internet is not provided? Nexus at the same time wnats to DECENTRALIZE INTERNET and bring internet for free with the cube Satellites, Steem is useless in some ways in Africa if you have not access to internet, Nexus pretends to bring internet to Billions of people without access to banking, technology or education.
What is interesting is that the developer of the Nexus Crypto is a great coder, also he have all this ideas, also Nexus is the most secure Crypto on the world ( quantum attacks resistant) + The father of the Nexus Niro Crypto developer is one of the founders of Space X, then he started his own company called Vector Space Systems http://vectorspacesystems.com/main/

In recent months I've come to the conclusion that the generality of Ethereum is a serious flaw in the concept, and the much maligned "appcoin" approach such as with Steem is in fact the superior approach. With the next rally I will be taking my money out of Ethereum.

My 2 cents on this would be to only invest what you are comfortable losing, and to play the "long" game.  So if you are interested in BTC , Ethereum and Steem, invest a bit in each, but don't try to become a day-trader constantly buying and selling.  Just buy and hold for the most part.  It is so much easier, safer, and lower stress (and is how Warren Buffet got to where he is - *mostly*)

It all depends on what you want to risk but I think the ehereum is a good long term bet. I've put money in it as well as Steem, of course :)

I like Warren Buffet and value investing principals.  I look for long term stuff and practice a lot to remain very objective despite price moments.  I combine crypto with what matters most: saving lives and eliminating suffering at the hands of evil people.  Well that is my view at least...

 I get the impression your already very compassionate to people and nature.  So, bring that with you.  Have fun!  Be creative.. Do the right thing and teach people and you can start trends that will help support the most important cause of the times.  Baby steps with investments, but don't waste any-time there is a lot to do!

My 2 cents on investing in crypto: if you have any more than little pocket change in cryptos, it is a really good idea to invest in some safe storage solution. Never trust the exchanges with your money. [Trezor](http://satoshilabs.com/trezor/) and [Ledger Wallet](https://www.ledgerwallet.com/) are popular solutions. Paper wallets are cheap, but a bit more hassle to use. I started with paper wallets but upgraded to Ledger Nano and now Ledger Nano S. The Nano S should be quite future-proof, as new currencies can be added just by tweaking the software.

I first heard about Bitcoin in 2010, but I didn't know much about it and pretty much missed the boat.  Years later I started researching Bitcoin more and it really interested me.  In the last few weeks I started really getting into cryptocurrencies.  I lost about $380 dollars in HYIP scam sites, so be careful with those.  But, other than that I own Ethereum and Ethereum Classic, you may want to read up on the split that happened.  I also own Bitcoin and Steem of course. Bitcoin led me to research Ethereum which then led me to research Steem. So glad I got into cryptocurrencies!

I have a little Bitcoin and Steem Power/Dollars, and I have thought about Ether, but I think that this Steem system can do a lot of what Ether was made to do.  Dan talks about it here: https://steemit.com/steem/@dantheman/how-anyone-can-build-custom-apps-on-steem-right-now

The thing that makes Ether valuable is the ability to run programs on the system as well as exchange currency.  In Dan's article, he explains
>It is fully possible to deploy an Ethereum Virtual Machine as a subchain on Steem... Everything you think you like about other blockchain platforms can be implemented as a Steem Subchain. These subchains would almost certainly be faster, easier to use, and cheaper than anything else out there.

I think once people start programming Steem subchains, money may flow out of Ether and into Steem.

Same story here. I heard of Bitcoin for the first time at 2013, when it become popular. But I had no interest in crypto-currencies, till my best friend told me about steemit and now I'm learning about crypto-currencies as much as I can.

I just got into crypto currency and I'm very excited about the possibilities. I dont do much posting, nor blog so I hope I can make a decent return by buying SP. Maybe a couple hundreds worth.
