Although in most cases I like well-organized plans, from time to time I allow myself to let the path be set in the moment. Having this freedom of being able to decide in the moment leads you to see places that you had not thought of at the beginning. Maybe we let ourselves be influenced by thinking that something "is too far away", but once you are in the area you want to take advantage of the fact that you are already there to see as much as possible. That's how it was when, without planning it at all, we ended up visiting the <strong>Estancia Túnel</strong> and the <strong>Encajonado River</strong> on the beaches of Ushuaia, a simple tour that is worth visiting ❤️. 

<blockquote>A pesar de que en la mayoría de los casos me gustan los planes bien organizados, de tanto en tanto me permito dejar que el camino se vaya marcando en el momento. Tener esta libertad de poder decidir en el momento te lleva a conocer lugares que no tenías pensados en un principio. Quizás nos dejamos influenciar por pensar que algo "está muy lejos", pero una vez que estás en la zona querés aprovechar que ya estás ahí para poder ver todo lo posible. Así fue cuando, sin planearlo en absoluto, terminamos conociendo la <strong>Estancia Túnel</strong> y el <strong>Río Encajonado</strong> en las playas de Ushuaia, un recorrido sencillo y que vale la pena conocer ❤️.

Our original idea that day was to do a quiet walk along the beach because we had already come from several days of walking more than 15 km in the mountains, with snow and cold. We had a nice day, so we decided to go for a walk along the Playa Larga, because after all those days we had not seen landscapes of this kind. With my new friends from the hostel it was very easy to hang out walking and chatting about trips along the shore of the beach, until we reached what seemed to be the end of the road that cars could reach. From there, trails began to advance on foot to the Estancia Túnel and the Encajonado River 😃.


<blockquote>Nuestra idea original de ese día era hacer una caminata tranquila por la playa porque ya veníamos de varias jornadas de caminar más de 15 km en la montaña, con nieve y frío. Nos había tocado un día bastante agradable, así que decidimos ir a pasear un poco por la Playa Larga, ya que después de todos esos días no habíamos visto unos paisajes de este tipo. Con mis nuevos amigos del hostel fue muy fácil pasar el rato caminando y charlando de viajes por la orilla de la playa, hasta que llegamos a lo que parecía ser el fin del camino al que podían llegar los autos. Desde ahí, empezaban senderos para avanzar a pie hasta la Estancia Túnel y el Río Encajonado 😃.

Although the afternoon was already a little late, at least I was eager to keep walking. I was quickly seized by the thought "<em>we are here, we should go to the end to see what's there</em>", even though the signage indicated that it would take 5 hours round trip to reach the end of the trail. After all this time walking, I know that sometimes the estimated times tend to be somewhat exaggerated and that the routes can be done in a little less than that time, especially when the trail is of low difficulty, so with this argument I convinced my mates that we could go and return quietly ❣️. 

<blockquote>Si bien la tarde ya estaba un poco avanzada, al menos yo tenía muchas ganas de seguir caminando. Rápidamente fui apoderada de ese pensamiento de "<em>estamos acá, deberíamos ir hasta el final para ver qué hay</em>", a pesar de que la cartelería indicaba que para llegar al final del sendero se necesitaban 5 horas de ida y vuelta. Después de todo este tiempo caminando, sé que en ocasiones los tiempos estimados suelen estar algo exagerados y que los recorridos se pueden hacer en un poco menos de ese tiempo, más aún cuando la senda es de dificultad baja, así que con este argumento convencí a mis compañeros de que llegábamos a ir y volver tranquilamente ❣️.

In the first half of the trail we arrived at what is known as Estancia Túnel, an abandoned space where a sawmill used to operate. It was nice to get there, the location of this place was privileged and it looked too mysterious to enter. The place was delimited with a gate, and although if it had been up to me alone I would have entered, my hiking companions did not want to risk more than that. In fact, they wanted to finish the hike here and return, but again I influenced them to keep walking since we were 25% done. Yes, very insistent on my part but we still continued further 😅.

<blockquote>En la primera mitad del sendero se llagaba a lo conocido como Estancia Túnel, un espacio actualmente abandonado en donde antes funcionaba un aserradero. Fue lindo llegar hasta ahí, la ubicación de este lugar era privilegiada y se veía muy misterioso como para entrar. El lugar estaba delimitado con una tranquera, y aunque si hubiese dependido de mí sola hubiese entrado, mis compañeros de caminata no quisieron arriesgarse más que eso. Es más, ellos querían terminar el paseo acá y regresar, pero nuevamente los influencié para que sigamos caminando ya que teníamos el 25% hecho. Si, muy insistente de mi parte pero igual continuamos hacia más allá 😅.

Once you made it through the initial forest, the rest of the trail was completely straightforward and well marked. It was probably also suitable for mountain biking, so there was no way to get lost. Walking through those fields was like a dream, I felt like I was in the landscapes shown in the movies. In the end, it is true that Ushuaia is beautiful from anywhere 💕.

<blockquote>Una vez que lograbas atravesar el bosque inicial, el resto del sendero era completamente sencillo y bien marcado. Seguramente también estaba apto como para hacer mountain bike, así que no había forma de perderse. Estar caminando por esos campos era como un sueño, yo me sentía como en los paisajes que muestran en las películas. Al final, es cierto que Ushuaia es hermosa desde cualquier parte 💕.

About 45 minutes after passing through the estancia, we reach the end of the road where we find ourselves in the river channel. This watercourse flowed directly into the Beagle Channel and it was great to see it flow directly to the beach. The good thing was that if you continued up the mountain you could see it from above, ascending a little, leaving the river below, but approaching the waterfall from which it came 😃.

<blockquote>Unos 45 minutos después de haber pasado por la estancia, llegamos al final del camino en donde nos encontramos con el encajonamiento del río. Este curso de agua desembocaba directamente en el Canal de Beagle y era genial verlo salir directamente hacia la playa. Lo bueno era que si continuabas camino arriba por la montaña podías verlo desde arriba, ascendiendo un poco, dejando el río abajo, pero acercandose a la cascada de la cual provenía 😃.

Before arriving to this place, I did not imagine that it was a boxed river, but here I could see it with my own eyes. This river crossed the middle of two large walls, as if it were a large crack where the passage opened up. The photos do not show the depth of this caisson, but it was probably about ten meters or more, which also created a great noise as the water advanced. Undoubtedly incredible ❣️.


<blockquote>Antes de llegar hasta este lugar, no me imaginaba que era un río encajonado, pero acá lo pude ver con mis propios ojos. Este río atravesaba el medio de dos grandes paredones, como si fuera una gran grieta en donde se abría el paso. En las fotos no se nota la profundidad de este cajón, pero seguramente eran unos diez metros o más, que también creaban un gran ruido a medida que avanzaba el agua. Sin dudas increible ❣️.

When we reached the end of the road, my fellow hikers were also amazed by this place. After all, they ended up thanking me for my insistence to go there, because it was worth it to see that landscape. The only thing was that we had to start the return trip at a pretty steady pace because we had to do the almost 6 km back to the trailhead, plus the whole first stretch on the beach. The good thing is that since it was getting dark so late, we still had a few hours of almost daylight, but we didn't have to be so confident either 😅.

<blockquote>Cuando llegamos hasta el final del camino, mis compañeros de caminata también quedaron sorprendidos con este lugar. Después de todo, terminaron agradeciendo mi insistencia para ir hasta ahí, porque valió la pena ver ese paisaje. Lo único fue que tuvimos que emprender la vuelta con un paso bastante firme porque teníamos que hacer los casi 6 km de regreso hasta la entrada del sendero, más todo el primer tramo sobre la playa. Lo bueno es que como oscurecía tan tarde, todavía teníamos algunas horas de casi luz, pero tampoco había que confiarse tanto 😅.

Getting to the estancia and the boxed river was almost a surprise in my itinerary. In the end, the day of the relaxed hike turned out to be one of the days we hiked the most, with almost 18 km in total. When you are in such beautiful places, you want to make the most of every last minute, and I was glad we did. Although I know that in life you cannot see everything, everything, I am happy with the places I have seen so far because it is much more than I ever imagined I could see and <strong>I will always be grateful for that</strong> ❣️. 


<blockquote>Haber llegado hasta la estancia y el río encajonado fue casi una sorpresa en mi itinerario. Al final, el día de la caminata relajada se terminó transformando en uno de los días que más caminamos, con casi 18 km en total. Y es que cuando uno está en estos lugares tan hermosos quiere aprovechar hasta el último minuto, y me alegré de que lo hayamos hecho. Si bien sé que en la vida no se puede ver todo, todo, estoy conforme con los lugares que conocí hasta ahora porque es mucho más de lo que alguna vez me imaginé poder ver y <strong>siempre voy a estar agradecida por eso</strong> ❣️.
