When my friend and I traveled to the city of Puerto Iguazú in the province of Misiones, the main objective was to celebrate my birthday. For June of this year I had proposed to be in a beautiful place receiving my 28th birthday, so I gave myself the gift of visiting the Iguazú Falls. But of course we started the celebration the night before, when we looked for a place to have dinner and wait until midnight for the traditional greeting as soon as the day began 😃.

Pero por supuesto empezamos el festejo la noche anterior, cuando buscamos un lugar para cenar y esperar hasta la medianoche para el tradicional saludo ni bien empezaba el día 😀. </em>

The city center has several blocks where you can choose from a variety of bars and places to dine. What caught our attention the most was that there were a few Mexican-style establishments: at least three, one very close to the other. We wonder what Mexico has to do with Misiones and the Iguazú Falls, but apparently it was an idea that worked here. It even worked for us who chose this place instead of the traditional bars 😅.

<em>El centro de la ciudad tiene varias cuadras en donde podes elegir diversidad de bares y lugares para cenar. Lo que más nos llamó la atención es que habían unos cuantos locales de estilo mexicano: al menos tres, uno muy cerca del otro. Nos preguntamos que tiene que ver México con Misiones y las Cataratas del Iguazú, pero aparentemente fue una idea que funcionó acá. Incluso funcionó para nosotras, que elegimos este lugar en vez de los bares tradicionales 😅.</em>

This place was somewhat small but with enough space to be comfortable, and at the time of going there were not that many people either since it was Wednesday in low season. What we liked, in addition to the offers they had for food and drinks, was that they gave you some Mexican hats to wear while eating dinner. I'm quite a clown and I like to take advantage of all these things out of the ordinary, so they managed to convince me 😂.

<em>Este lugar era algo pequeño pero con el espacio suficiente para estar cómodo, y al momento de ir tampoco había tanta gente ya que era miércoles en temporada baja. Lo que nos gustó, además de las ofertas que tenían por comida y bebida, era que te daban unos sombreros mexicanos para usar mientras cenabas. Yo soy bastante payasa y me gusta aprovechar todas estas cosas fuera de lo común, así que lograron convencerme 😂.</em>

The bar offered us a burrito menu for 500 ARS and a drink for 400 ARS, so for only 900 ARS each one (4.5 USD at the time), we were able to have a full dinner. In addition to that, the place gave you a tray with nachos and different sauces for you to wait for while dinner arrived. These unexpected details are the ones that manage to have a good impact on consumers, and they did it on us who were very hungry 😂.

<em>El bar nos ofreció un menú de burrito por 500 ARS y un trago por 400 ARS, así que por tan solo 900 ARS cada una (4.5 USD en ese momento), pudimos tener una cena completa. Además de eso, el lugar te daba de regalo una bandeja con nachos y diferentes salsas para que esperes mientras llegaba la cena. Estos detalles inesperados son los que logran impactar bien en los consumidores, y lo hicieron en nosotras que teníamos mucha hambre 😂.</em>

Of course, among the sauces included in the nachos there was a spicy one, even the waiter told us to be careful with it. BUT this only managed to increase our curiosity in general. I have an experience eating spicy things and it was not so good: I remember that when I ate a spicy sauce my whole mouth swelled up and I could feel it burning. Of course I didn't want to go through that again, but I also didn't want to miss out on trying this sauce, but I have to tell you that the waiter was right: just a little was enough to make our tongues itch so we left it 😂.

<em>Por supuesto, entre las salsas que incluían los nachos había una picante, incluso el mozo nos dijo que tengamos cuidado con ella. PERO esto solo logró aumentar nuestra curiosad en general. Tengo una experiencia comiendo cosas picantes y no fue tan buena: recuerdo que al comer una salsa picante se me hinchó toda la boca y podía sentir como me quemaba. Por supuesto no quería pasar por eso de nuevo, pero tampoco perderme de probar esta salsa, pero debo decirles que el mesero tenía razón: solo un poco bastó para que nos empezara a picar toda la lengua así que la dejamos 😂.</em>

When it was twelve o'clock at night and it finally started on June 2, my friend and I hugged each other and sang the birthday song. Some of those who were there eating with us also joined and greeted me. It was the first time that I celebrated my birthday away from my home and my family, and it was good to be in a different place and doing what I like, which is traveling and being in a beautiful place. The next day we had a long day ahead of us, so we only stayed a little longer and then went to sleep 😅.

<em>Cuando se hicieron las doce de la noche y finalmente empezó el 2 de Junio, mi amiga y yo nos abrazamos y cantamos la canción del cumpleaños. Algunos de los que estaban ahí comiendo con nosotras también se unieron y me saludaron. Era la primera vez que festejaba mi cumpleaños lejos de mi casa y mi familia, y fue bueno estar en un lugar diferente y haciendo lo que me gusta que es viajar y estar en un lugar hermoso. Al otro día teníamos un largo día por delante, así que solo estuvimos un rato más y luego a dormir 😅.</em>

Being for a walk 1400 km from my house receiving my new year was the best self-gift I could give myself. Every time I go for a walk I feel like it's worth all the time I spend saving up and thinking about things I could do. Two years ago I would not have imagined having this possibility, but luckily from there to here, everything conspired in my favor to make it so and I will always be grateful for that 😘.

Cada vez que paseo siento que vale la pena todo el tiempo que paso ahorrando y pensando qué cosas podría hacer.
