As the years go by and I become more experienced in life (not to say old), I find it harder and harder to go out at night. It's not that I stopped liking going out at all, it's just that staying at home lying down and resting always ends up being a better plan. But in my long stay in Ushuaia, with people who were in vacation mode all the time, I found a bit of motivation. Besides, the fact that it is a small city with everything close by helped a lot with the nightlife, although there were always “problems” when it came to <strong>defining the time to go to the bar</strong>.

<blockquote>A medida que pasan los años y me hago más experimentada en la vida (por no decir vieja), cada vez me cuesta más salir de noche. No es que me haya dejado de gustar del todo salir un poco, sino que quedarse en casa acostado descansando siempre termina siendo un mejor plan. Pero en mi larga estadía en Ushuaia, con gente que todo el tiempo estaba en modo vacaciones, encontraba un poco de motivación. Además, el hecho de que sea una ciudad pequeña y con todo cerca ayudaba mucho a la vida nocturna, aunque siempre había "problemas" a la hora de <strong>definir el horario del paseo al bar</strong>.

Ushuaia is a beautiful city with lots of nature to enjoy. Personally, I love the mountains and outdoor activities, so I always used almost all my time for trekking. But my body and legs need rest, so sometimes I would stay at the hostel recovering until the evening when I had enough energy to do something. And the good thing about this kind of travelers' places is that there is always someone to organize any kind of plan.

<blockquote>Ushuaia es una ciudad hermosa y con mucha naturaleza para disfrutar. En lo personal, me encanta la montaña y las actividades al aire libre, por lo que siempre usaba casi todo mi tiempo para hacer trekking. Pero el cuerpo y las piernas necesitan descansar, por lo que en oportunidades aprovechaba para quedarme en el hostel recuperándome hasta la noche que me encontraba con mucha energía como para hacer algo. Y lo bueno de este tipo de lugares de viajeros es que siempre hay alguien para organizar cualquier tipo de plan.

Living with people passing through a hostel is to be in a festive atmosphere almost all the time. There were days when I didn't feel like following that rhythm and I moved away a bit, but when I felt like joining some kind of night plan, this was a positive point. One thing the hostel owners defined me with was as an “event organizer” because I regularly encouraged community dinners or even outings to the bar, as was the case on St. Patrick's Day. The bar I liked best in Ushuaia was one called Dublin Bar, an Irish-style one, so there would definitely be a lot of partying that day and I extended an invitation to everyone.

Había días en que los que no tenía muchas ganas de seguir ese ritmo y me apartaba un poco, pero cuando tenía ganas de unirme a algún tipo de plan de noche, esto era un punto positivo. Algo con lo que los dueños del hostel me definieron era como "organizadora de eventos" porque regularmente fomentaba las cenas comunitarias o incluso salidas al bar, como fue en el Día de San Patricio. El bar que más me gustaba en Ushuaia era uno llamado Dublin Bar, uno de estilo irlandés, así que definitivamente ese día habría mucha fiesta y extendí una invitación para todos.

The issue was when I proposed that the time to go to the bar be at 10 PM. Some guests told me that this time was too late, but another half of the group suggested it was too early. Even I thought it was too early to go, but I wanted to propose an in-between time that would work for all of us. The general pattern was that locals from Argentina wanted to go as late as possible, while Europeans were ready to go as soon as the sun went down at 9 PM. In addition to Dublin Bar, I had visited other bars before where if you went too early, people had not yet arrived and it became a bit dense and boring. On another occasion, we had gone out with some Spanish girls to a bar and went at 1 AM (at my suggestion, because they wanted to go at 9 PM), and it didn't get crowded until 2 or 3 AM.

Algunos invitados me dijeron que este horario era muy tarde, pero otra mitad del grupo sugirieron que era muy temprano. Incluso yo pensaba que era muy temprano como para ir, pero quería proponer un horario intermedio que nos sirviera a todos. El patrón general era que los locales de Argentina queríamos ir lo más tarde posible, mientras que los europeos ya estaban listos para ir a apenas bajó el sol a las 9 PM. Además de Dublin Bar, había visitado otros bares antes en donde si ibas muy temprano, la gente todavía no había llegado y esto se volvía un poco denso y aburrido. En otra ocasión, habíamos salido con unas chicas españolas a un bar y fuimos a la 1 AM (por sugerencia mía, porque ellas querían ir a las 9 PM), y no se llenó de gente sino hasta las 2 o 3 AM.

I received comments that we started our nights out too late, but in Argentina the bars or boliches are usually open until 6 AM, being the best time to go at 3 AM (if you're wondering what we stayed up until that time, well, we got together with friends in a house to eat, listen to music and drink, before going to the bar to continue drinking.). There is no point in going earlier than that, unless you want to be alone in the place. And being an adult and staying energized until 3 AM is quite a challenge, which would explain why I don't party as much anymore. When I was younger I loved going to clubs at that time and could easily stay awake until dawn, but in my thirties 10 PM comes and my eyes are already closing.

<blockquote>Recibí comentarios de que empezamos nuestras salidas nocturnas demasiado tarde, pero es que en Argentina los locales de bares o boliches suelen estar abiertos hasta las 6 AM, siendo la mejor hora para ir las 3 de la madrugada (Si se preguntan qué nos quedamos haciendo hasta esa hora, bueno, nos juntamos con amigos en una casa a comer, escuchar música y beber, antes de ir al bar a seguir bebiendo). No tiene sentido ir más temprano que eso, a menos que quieras estar solo en el lugar. Y siendo adulto y mantenerse con energía hasta las 3 AM es todo un reto, lo que explicaría por qué ya no salgo tanto de fiesta. Cuando era más joven me encantaba ir a los clubes a esa hora y podía aguantar despierta facilmente hasta el amanecer, pero en mis treinta años llegan las 10 PM y ya se me están cerrando los ojos.

Finally, the St. Patrick's Day departure, scheduled for 10 PM, ended up taking place around midnight, after convincing the European guests that the original schedule was too early. Despite having delayed it a bit longer, when we arrived at the bar, there were not so many people and the peak of the crowds was around 2 AM, as in my previous experiences. This is something I can no longer do every weekend, but I like to do from time to time to renew my energy and enjoy good company. <strong>And what do you think?
