The battle rages through the streets of the mind,
Ragged infantry stands off against uniformed might.
Charging forward in a seething mass of shabby forms,
The infantry of the hopeless wage war on greed.
They outnumber their foes a thousand to one,
And yet, they are the only ones who bleed.

The guardians of justice, too perfect to bleed
Have enslaved the masses, deluded their minds,
Determined to destroy under their boots everyone
Who would stand up and undermine their might.
Trampling on the poor, who were cast down by greed.
In the sewers lives humanity, infused in ragged forms.

Then one day humanity stirs and out of the mist it forms
Stumbling forward is the only side that bleeds.
Cast out by corrupt lords ruling in fortresses of greed,
They occupy no space in the minds
Of those who wield power and might;
This is their first mistake, the fatal one.

A ripple passes through the crowd, carrying whispers of the one.
Hope is passed along through the air, infiltrating hobbling forms.
They stand in lines, facing off against the army of greed.
The battle lines join, yet only one side bleeds.
As the screams subside the outcome is revolting to the mind.
How can anyone compete with the armies of greed?

The slaves line the streets, cheering the triumph of greed.
In the shadows hides a survivor, the only one
To see the truth, the delusions in the mind.
He sobs at the sight of the mangled forms,
Victims of a war where only their side bleeds.
They were judged wrong in a world where right is decided by might.

And yet, still they gather, combining their might,
Like a flood they will come to topple greed,
Continuing the timeless war where only one side bleeds.
Instilled by the whisperings of the one,
They march again in ragged lines of ragged humanity.
They are united by a thought, comrades of the mind.

They invade the minds of the enemy, slipping past their might.
Overcoming generations of huddled forms and greed
With the help of the one, they topple those who cannot bleed.
