# My Considerations about Bots, Wild Format and Modern Format + My Game Activity and Progress on Splinterlands

On Splinterlands I have always been more of a player than an investor, and because of that I have always had growth goals related to the assets connected to the game: cards and SPS.

I enjoy playing on Splinterlands but only against real players and that is why I chose to play only in the Modern Format because it is the only format where bots and battle helpers have been banned.

I have repeatedly expressed my discontent with Splinterlands' choice to tolerate bots and the choice to tolerate them only in the Wild Format was a better choice than doing nothing but it was still a bad choice and also counterproductive in the medium to long term in my opinion.

Splinterlands has so many passive income possibilities and I just don't understand why even the playful and fun part has to be turned into passive income using bots.

I love Splinterlands, I enjoy playing the game and because of that I have always tried to increase the battle strength of my card collection but **as time has passed my desire to buy and upgrade cards has decreased**.

**Why?**

**Due to Splinterlands' choice to tolerate bots!**

In the current system:
- **Wild Format**: it is **possible to use cards from all sets but there are bots and there is Wild Pass**. 
- **Modern Format**: it is **possible to use only cards from the last two editions and bots are prohibited**

**What does a real player who likes to play on Splinterlands only against real players have to do to stay competitive**?

What I did.

**When the release of a new set of cards is announced, he is forced to put all the cards coming out of the Modern Format on sale in order to have cash to invest in the cards of the new set.**

**Is this a logical and functional system? Absolutely not!**
**Is it a system that incentivizes the purchase of cards? Absolutely not!**

How can this system be improved?

In my opinion **the best solution** is also the simplest and most logical: **to totally ban bots from Splinterlands!**

The only **acceptable alternative solution** is **creating a bots-only league** with a three-way division of the reward pool between **Modern Format, Wild Format and Bot Format!**

Because of the choice to tolerate bots in the Wild Format every time a new set is introduced the cards coming out of the Modern Format will lose value for a real player like me because playing in the Wild Format against bots is not fun!

But I would like to point out that when I write that cards lose value for a real player like me I am not referring to market value but to value within the game, to purely play value.

One of the cards that I have always wanted to have in my collection and longed for is **Byzantine Kitty**.
Byzantine Kitty is one of the most useful and versatile summoner cards in my opinion but today 1 BCX is worth little more than 1 BCX of Mantaroth.

From the point of view of utility in battle Byzantine Kitty should be worth much much more but it is not.

**Every time the cards come out of Modern Format they will lose market value and play value.**

For me Byzantine Kitty has a sentimental value but it has no value within the game for me because I don't want to play in the Wild Format against bots.

For my Byzantine Kitty **I only have two choices**:
- sell Byzantine Kitty or put it up for rent to a few DECs
- become a user of bots

It took me many months to upgrade Byzantine Kitty up to **level 3 = 6 BCX** but now I have to hand her over to a bot or sell her.

**If when the new edition of cards comes out I find myself again not being able to use my cards against real players (= 0 fun for me) but only against bots I will no longer buy packs of cards and use only bots too!**

**If a player who loves Splinterlands like me has come to this conclusion what will a new player who enters Splinterlands today, buys Chaos Legion cards to play in Modern Format with real players like him and then finds out that when the new set of cards is released he will be forced to play and use his Chaos Legion cards against bots and bot-farms and will also have to pay a seasonal entry fee (Wild Pass) to play against bots and bot-farms?**

**The Wild Format and Modern Format system would be a great system but only without bots!**
**With bots it is a system that only penalizes real players! = bad system**

**My dream is to see bots completely eliminated from Splinterlands but my dream unfortunately is not a priority of Splinterlands** and I got confirmation from the response I received to the comment I wrote below the Splinterlands post.

Honestly, I would have preferred an answer like “gradually we will arrive at the elimination of the bots”... but now more than before my desire to continue to set myself growth goals has slowed down considerably...

# My gaming activity and progress

On Splinterlands, **season 139** is underway and will end in just under 11 days.

My **season goals** are the same as I had set for the previous season:
- accumulate at least **50K GLINT**
- **end the season at least in Gold I league**.

In the previous season, season 138, I met and far exceeded my goal related to GLINT tokens because I accumulated more than **80K GLINT** (40K GLINT during the season + 40K GLINT as end-of-season reward)

Unfortunately, I did not reach my seasonal game goal because I finished season 139 in **Gold II** in the **Modern Format** with a final score of **rating = 2440**

Compared to the still previous season, I have worsened my win rate.

In the current season I will try to arrive at least in the Gold I league and additional help I might get from my soulbound cards because thanks to the **100 Rare Draw** I bought at the beginning of the season I have made important progress related to upgrades of my Soulbound cards.

I am particularly pleased that I was able to complete the upgrade of **LOBB LOWLAND: level 7 -> level 8**

I have almost completed the upgrade of soulbounds rare cards but will wait until the beginning of next season to buy another 100 Rare Draw.

When I have completed the soulbound rare card upgrade I will focus completely on the soulbound legendary card upgrade.

At the beginning of the current season I also purchased **3 Legendary Draws**.

I found **1 Terraceous Hulk, 1 Berix Snakeye** and **1 Drybone Raider**.

Thanks to the single BCX of Drybone Raider I found, I was able to upgrade from level 2 to level 3.

As for **my non-soulbound card upgrade goals** I have **three active bid purchase offers** to upgrade to the maximum level of the cards **Agor Longtail, Oshuur Constantia** and **Silverblade Fighter**

While I'm waiting for my purchase offers to be accepted by some seller **today I added another upgrade goal** to my goals:
- **Weirding Warrior: level 4 -> level 6**.

I have 22 BCX of Weirding Warrior in my card collection.

In order to upgrade to the maximum level, I need to buy 24 more BCXs

In the current season I am in Modern Format's Gold III league and I am still far from the Gold I league but I still have more than 10 days left and many battles to reach my season game goal.

# Le mie considerazioni su Bot, Wild Format e Modern Format + La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi

Su Splinterlands sono stato sempre più un giocatore che un investitore e per questo motivo ho sempre avuto obiettivi di crescita relativi agli assets collegati al gioco: carte e SPS.

Mi piace giocare su Splinterlands ma solo contro i giocatori reali e per questo motivo ho scelto di giocare solo nel Modern Format perchè è l'unico formato in cui i bots e i battle helpers sono stati vietati.

Ho più volte espresso il mio malcontento verso la scelta di Splinterlands di tollerare i bots e la scelta di tollerarli solo nel Wild Format è stata una scelta migliore di quella di non fare niente ma è comunque stata una brutta scelta e anche controproduttiva nel medio-lungo periodo secondo me.

Splinterlands ha tante possibilità di rendita passiva e non capisco proprio il perchè non si eliminano i bots anche dal Wild Format!

Io amo Splinterlands, mi diverto a giocare e per questo motivo ho sempre cercato di aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte ma con il passare del tempo la mia voglia di acquistare e fare l'upgrade delle carte è diminuita.

Perchè?

Per colpa della scelta di Splinterlands di tollerare bots!

Nel sistema attuale:
- **Formato Wild**: è **possibile utilizzare le carte di tutti i sets ma ci sono i bots e c'è il Wild Pass** 
- **Formato Modern**: è **possibile utilizzare solo le carte delle ultime due edizioni**

**Cosa deve fare un giocatore reale che ama giocare su Splinterlands solo contro giocatori reali per rimanere competitivo?**

Quello che ho fatto io.

**Quando viene annunciato il rilascio di un nuovo set di carte è costretto a mettere in vendita tutte le carte che usciranno dal Formato Moderno per avere liquidità da investire nelle carte del nuovo set.**

**E' un sistema logico e funzionale? Assolutamente No!**
**E' un sistema che incentiva l'acquisto delle carte? Assolutamente No!**

Come si può migliorare questo sistema?

Secondo me **la migliore soluzione** è anche la più semplice e logica: **vietare totalmente i bots da Splinterlands!**

L'unica **soluzione accettabile alternativa** è **creare una lega solo per i bots** con una divisione a tre della reward pool tra **Modern Format, Wild Format e Bot Format!**


Per colpa della scelta di tollerare i bots nel Wild Format ogni volta che verrà introdotto un nuovo set le carte che usciranno dal Modern Format perderanno valore per un giocatore reale come me perchè giocare nel Wild Format contro i bots non è divertente!

Ma ci tengo a precisare che quando scrivo che le carte perdono valore per un giocatore reale come me non mi sto riferendo al valore di mercato ma al valore all'interno del gioco, al valore puramente ludico.

Una delle carte che ho sempre voluto avere nella mia collezione e che ho desiderato tanto è **Byzantine Kitty**.
Byzantine Kitty è una delle carte evocatore più utili e versatili secondo me ma oggi 1 BCX vale poco più di 1 BCX di Mantaroth.

Dal punto di vista dell'utilità in battaglia Byzantine Kitty dovrebbe valere molto molto di più ma non è così.

**Ogni volta che le carte usciranno dal Modern Format perderanno valore di mercato e valore di gioco.**

Per me Byzantine Kitty ha un valore affettivo ma non ha un valore all'interno del gioco = 0 per me perchè non voglio giocare nel Wild Format contro i bots.

Per la mia Byzantine Kitty **ho solo due scelte**:
- vendere Byzantine Kitty o metterla a noleggio a pochi DEC
- diventare un utilizzatore di bots

Ho impiegato molti mesi per fare l'upgrade di Byzantine Kitty fino al **livello 3 = 6 BCX** ma adesso devo affidarla ad un bot oppure venderla.

**Se quando uscirà la nuova edizione delle carte mi ritroverò nuovamente a non poter usare le mie carte contro giocatori reali (= 0 divertimento per me) ma solo contro bots non acquisterò più pacchi di carte e userò anche io solo bots!**

**Se un giocatore che ama Splinterlands come me è arrivato a questa conclusione cosa farà un nuovo giocatore che entra oggi su Splinterlands, acquista le carte Chaos Legion per giocare nel Modern Format con giocatori reali come lui e poi scopre che quando sarà rilasciato il nuovo set di carte sarà costretto a giocare e utilizzare le sue carte Chaos Legion contro bots e bot-farms e dovrà anche pagare una fee di ingresso stagionale (Wild Pass) per giocare contro bots e bot-farms?**

**Il sistema Wild Format e Modern Format sarebbe un ottimo sistema ma solo senza bots!**
**Con i bots è un sistema che penalizza solo i giocatori reali! = pessimo sistema**

**Il mio sogno è vedere i bots completamente eliminati da Splinterlands ma il mio sogno purtroppo non è una priorità di Splinterlands** e ho avuto la conferma dalla risposta che ho ricevuto al commento che ho scritto sotto al post di Splinterlands.

Sinceramente avrei preferito una risposta del tipo "gradualmente arriveremo all'eliminazione dei bots"... ma adesso più di prima la mia voglia di continuare a pormi obiettivi di crescita ha subito un forte rallentamento...

## La mia attività di gioco e i miei progressi

Su Splinterlands è in corso la **stagione 139** che terminerà tra poco meno di 11 giorni.

I **miei obiettivi stagionali** sono gli stessi che avevo fissato per la stagione precedente:
- accumulare almeno **50K GLINT**
- **terminare la stagione almeno in lega Gold I**

Nella stagione precedente, la stagione 138, ho raggiunto e superato abbondantemente il mio obiettivo relativo ai token GLINT perchè ho accumulato più di **80K GLINT** (40K GLINT durante la stagione + 40K GLINT come ricompensa di fine stagione)

Purtroppo non ho raggiunto il mio obiettivo stagionale di gioco perchè ho terminato la stagione 139 in **Gold II** nel **Modern Format** con un punteggio finale di **rating = 2440**

Rispetto alla stagione ancora precedente ho peggiorato il mio win rate.

Nella stagione in corso cercherò di arrivare almeno in lega Gold I e un aiuto aggiuntivo potrei riceverlo dalle mie carte soulbound perchè grazie ai **100 Rare Draw** che ho acquistato all'inizio della stagione ho fatto degli importanti progressi relativi agli upgrade delle mie carte Soulbound.

Sono particolarmente contento di essere riuscito a completare l'upgrade di **LOBB LOWLAND: level 7 -> level 8**

Ho quasi completato l'upgrade delle carte rare soulbounds ma aspetterò l'inizio della prossima stagione per acquistare altri 100 Rare Draw.

Quando avrò completato l'upgrade delle carte rare soulbound mi focalizzerò completamente sull'upgrade delle carte leggendarie soulbound.

All'inizio della stagione in corso ho acquistato anche **3 Legendary Draws**.

Grazie al singolo BCX di Drybone Raider che ho trovato ho potuto fare l'upgrade dal livello 2 al livello 3.

Per quanto riguarda **i miei obiettivi di upgrade delle carte non soulbound** ho **tre offerte di acquisto bid attive** per fare l'upgrade al livello massimo delle carte **Agor Longtail, Oshuur Constantia** e **Silverblade Fighter**

Che riposta deprimente onestamente che ti hanno dato... alle volte ho come l'impressione che le persone ascoltino solo ciò che vogliono sentire: sono secoli che in tanti si lamentano del fatto che anche il Wild Format dovrebbe essere un formato per soli giocatori umani e la risposta del team è "tranquilli, c'è già il Modern Format per quello"... a cui verrebbe da rispondere "ma va? questo ormai lo sanno anche i muri e non è il problema di cui ci stiamo lamentando"... sempre più covinto che su Splinterlands si presti attenzione solo alle richieste ed agli interessi di poche whales, fregadosene di quello che dicono migliaia di giocatori "normali". Ho comunque deciso di supportare la proposta per il bene di Hive e perché una parte di me spera che anche Splinterlands ad un certo punto capisca che i giocatori "normali" sono il cuore di un gioco, ma quando leggo queste cose onestamente mi chiedo se sto solo sperando nell'impossibile...

Caro @libertycrypto27, non ho mai avuto una particolare avversione ai bots, anche se anch'io preferirei vederli rimuovere, ma la risposta che hai ricevuto dimostra che gli sviluppatori non hanno nessun interesse reale a combatterli. Provano a contenerli, per far almeno in parte contenti giocatori come te, ma non vogliono eliminarli. Anzi gran parte delle decisioni che prendono fingendo di volerlo fare in realtà producono l'effetto opposto: il wild pass non elimina i bot, elimina solo i bot inefficienti: sono praticamente certo che abbia eliminato molti più giocatori umani che bot e che in proporzione ora i bot siano più di prima nel Wild format rispetto agli umani. 

E, cosa più grave di tutte, non dicono perché (ho qualche idea al riguardo, ma non conta). Questa mancanza di trasparenza e questi continui tentativi di travisare la realtà mi hanno oramai perdere fiducia negli sviluppatori. Per questo motivo sono contrario alla loro proposal, dove, ancora una volta, sono stati ben poco trasparenti sugli obiettivi e sulle garanzie offerte. Penso che chi abbia approvato la loro proposal in realtà di abbia aiutati a continuare in questo loro atteggiamento ben poco rispettoso purtroppo, anche se capisco che molti abbiano agito per amore del gioco ed anche se mi rendo conto che le balene Splinterlands sono già sufficienti a farla approvare. 

Sono curioso di vedere come andrà a finire l'altra proposal, quella al DAO, quindi interna a Splinterlands, dove gli sviluppatori chiedono altri soldi (e tanti, oltre un milione di dollari) alla comunità. In particolare a quella per completare lo sviluppo della decentralizzazione e gestione degli SPS dove gli sviluppatori di Peakmonster si sono posti in concorrenza a quelli raccomandati da Splinterlands.

Mi dispiace ma finché non vedrò cambiamenti di atteggiamento Splinterlands non entrerà più nelle mie attività di investimento, anzi sempre più aumento la percentuale di quanto estraggo rispetto a quanto ricavo, attualmente poco inferiore al 50%.

Nice upgrades.

I agree that they need to completely solve the bot issue and it sucks that the old cards have very little value. The value of the older editions just continues to drop because it can't be used in modern and people don't want to fight in Wild now that the wild pass got implemented.

A lot of people have also suggested to create a league where there are no bots, but I think splinterlands wants to keeps the bots. I don't know if it's for sentimental purposes or for profit making. 
The kitty looks legendary, and I serious do not like relating some cards to one longer and making it unplayable in another, it just makes these assets loose their values. 

Congratulations on your drybone, it's one of my favorite cards in the game.

Yes my friend to me it seems so absurd and illogical that there is a format with bots where all cards can be used and a format without bots where only cards from the last two editions can be used.

This is a really disappointing response. I don't know how the team can make so many mistakes and not see that card value by real players should be their focus in the game. How can we upgrade our decks with rebellion when we know their value and utility will be cut short?! There also seems to be many bots in modern and now they will put their own ones there...

Yes my friend completely agree... I personally love Splinterlands but I don't like the prolonged approach of tolerating bots and after the response I received I will modify my attitude of investing in cards...maybe it is time to use most of my future income on Splinterlands not in cards but in Hive Power

Hello. I really don't understand the irrational hatred against bots, which under normal conditions are just another player. Of course, bots have exacerbated a serious problem with the game mechanics, which is that with very few cards you can beat a team with hundreds of cards. But that's a problem Splinterlands doesn't want to solve, and it's the main reason why there's no way people like you and me who enjoy the game should invest in cards. In my opinion it is almost a scam for new players to incorporate them into the game without having corrected the basic problems of the game mechanics. There are simple ways to solve all these problems and I made a [proposal](https://hive.blog/hive-13323/@quigua/splinterlands-is-broken-a-simple-proposal-to-fix-everything) suggestion several months ago.
