# <center>Seasonal Card Rentals - Renter Side: Step by Step Guide using Splinterlands and Peakmonsters</center>

One of my favorite aspects of Splinterlands is the continuous development and dynamism in making changes or adding new features to the game.

In the past few months, many changes have been made to the gameplay and reward mechanisms with a focus on improving the player experience.

The introduction of the seasonal rentals feature was a nice addition because it improved the player experience.

Before this change, the player could rent a card for a minimum of 2 days and the only rental possible was a daily rental.
Today it is possible to choose between a **daily rental** and a **seasonal rental**.

Seasonal rentals solved an issue on the player/renter side.
Prior to this change, someone who rented a card for 15 days **could have their rental cancelled after 2 days** and had to go to the marketplace again to re-rent the same card.
This process could become particularly unpleasant if the card owner's cancellation of the rental occurred on the last days of the season when the rewards are greatest and almost all players increase their game activity.

Now the player can rent a card for an entire season without worrying about a possible cancellation before the end of the season because even if the owner cancels the rental in the middle of the season the cancellation of the rental will be applied only after the season ends.

Today I decided to write two step-by-step guides to show how easy it is to take a card rental for an entire season using:
- the **Market** section of **Splinterlands**
- the **Rent** section of **Peakmonsters**.

## <center>How to rent a card for an entire season from the Splinterlands Marketplace</center>

If you want to rent a card for an entire season from the Market section of the Splinterlands website, you need to follow a few simple steps:

### **STEP 1:** 
- **1:** You need to click on **MARKET** 
- **2:** then you need to click on **CARD RENTALS**
- **3:** then you need to choose as the **rental duration**: **SEASON**

### **STEP 2:**
You need to click on the image of the card you want to rent.

### **STEP 3:**
A screen will open where:
- **1:** you have to click on the white square in the direction of the card you have chosen.
- **2:** you have to click on **RENT** (arrow 2 next image)

### **STEP 4:**
On the next screen:
- **1:** you need to click on **RENT**
- **2:** you have to confirm your choice by clicking on **OK**

## <center>How to rent a card for an entire season from the Peakmonsters Rent section</center>

Renting a card for an entire season can also be done using third-party sites.
I will now show you how you can perform the same rental operation I showed you earlier from the **[Rent](https://peakmonsters.com/rentals)** section of **Peakmonsters** instead of the Splinterlands site.

### **STEP 1:**
- **1:** You have to **login** to https://peakmonsters.com/ using [Hive Keychain](https://hive-keychain.com/) 


- **2:** you need to click on **Rent** in the top left menu.

### **STEP 2:**
- **1:** you have to click on **SEASON** in the **Filter** section (right side of the screen)

### **STEP 3:**
- **1:** you have to click on the **carrel symbol** in the upper right corner as indicated by **arrow number 1** in the following image
- **2:** then you need to choose the **payment method** you want to use (**DEC** or **Credit**)
- **3:** then you need to click on **CONFIRM** within the **Hive Keychain** screen.

## <center>Splinterlands Card Rentals and Peakmonsters Rent Section</center>

Renting a card from the **Card Rentals** section of **Splinterlands** or from the **Rent** section of **Peakmonsters** is an easy task to do in either case but **Peakmonsters has many more features and many more filters** that allow you to speed up the rental process.

In the following image you can see the **filters** available on **Splinterlands**.

In the following image you can see the **filters** available in the **Rent** section of **Peakmonsters**

For example, if you want to rent **Pecalor Bandit** of **level 8** you only need to use two filters (Card Name and Level) to immediately narrow your search and find the card.

If you don't like the rental price, you can also try making a **rental offer** by clicking on **BID**

## <center>Why rent the cards?</center>

**Renting is the inexpensive alternative to buying cards.**
You can consider renting cards instead of buying them to advance quickly in Splinterlands leagues and earn in-game rewards (SPS tokens and Chests) without investing much.
This way you can use the in-game rewards to build an increasingly competitive deck season after season.
By doing this you will be able to rent fewer and fewer cards season after season and your rental expense will gradually decrease as time goes on.

When I had few cards in my collection I used rentals often. 
Today thanks to those rentals and the in-game rewards I have earned I have built a competitive card collection for Gold leagues and am increasing the battle strength of my card collection to be competitive in Diamond leagues as well.

In order to decide **how much to invest** in card rentals, I recommend that you **study and analyze the estimated value of the in-game rewards** you can earn by playing in a specific league.
I also recommend that you **proceed in stages by increasing the level/cost of rented cards as you advance in leagues**.

To find out the **estimated value of rewards in SPS tokens** for each battle you win, you can use the **Reward Pool Statistics** tool from **Plexx.gg**: https://splex.gg/tools/reward_pools

To find out the **estimated value of the contents of the chests** that can be earned by completing Focus Daily and are obtainable as end-of-season rewards, you can use Plexx.gg's **Chest EV by League** tool: https://splex.gg/tools/chest

**To choose cards to rent to be competitive in a specific league** you can look at **Decks** built by more experienced players (**thematic** or **lineup**) using the recent [My Decks](https://peakmonsters.com/decks) feature created by Peakmonsters.

Seasonal rental adds a new feature and new option to rental.
Seasonal rental of a card should theoretically be priced lower than daily rental but for now there is not much difference in price between the two types but only because seasonal rental is a recent feature and the number of cards in the seasonal rental market is smaller than the number of cards in the daily rental market.

Recently Splinterlands has introduced **fees** of **1 DEC** or **1 credit** for renting and listing a card.
Because of these fees the owner-side rental operation of a card requires a different choice and evaluation than the renter but these aspects will be the topic of a future post of mine.

Uno degli aspetti che più mi piace di Splinterlands è il continuo sviluppo e il dinamismo nell'apportare modifiche o nell'aggiungere nuove funzionalità al gioco.

Negli ultimi mesi sono state apportate molte modifiche ai meccanismi di gioco e ai meccanismi di ricompensa con una particolare attenzione al miglioramento dell'esperienza del giocatore.

## <center>Noleggio Stagionale delle carte</center>

L'introduzione della funzionalità dei noleggi stagionali è stata una bella aggiunta al sistema di noleggio perchè ha migliorato l'esperienza del giocatore.

Prima di questa modifica il giocatore poteva noleggiare una carta per un minimo di 2 giorni e l'unico noleggio possibile era il noleggio giornaliero.
Oggi è possibile scegliere tra un noleggio girnaliero e un noleggio stagionale.

I noleggi stagionali hanno risolto una problematica lato giocatore/renter.
Prima di questa modifica chi noleggiava una carta per 15 giorni **poteva vedersi cancellato il noleggio dopo 2 giorni** e doveva nuovamente andare sul mercato per rinoleggiare la stessa carta.
Questo processo poteva diventare particolarmente poco piacevole se la cancellazione del noleggio da parte del proprietario della carta avveniva gli ultimi giorni della stagione quando le ricompense sono maggiori e quasi tutti i giocatori incrementano l'attività di gioco.

Adesso il giocatore può noleggiare una carta per un'intera stagione senza preoccuparsi di una possibile cancellazione prima della fine della stagione perchè anche se il proprietrario cancella il noleggio nel mezzo della stagione la cancellazione del noleggio verrà applicata solo dopo la conclusione della stagione.

Oggi ho deciso di scrivere due guide passo passo per mostrare quanto è semplice prendere in noleggio una carta per un intera stagione utilizzando:
- la sezione **Market** di **Splinterlands**
- la sezione **Rent** di **Peakmonsters**

Se vuoi noleggiare una carta per un'intera stagione dalla sezione Market del sito di Splinterlands devi seguire pochi e semplici passi:

### **PASSO 1:** 
- **1:** Devi cliccare su **MARKET** 
- **2:** poi devi cliccare su **CARD RENTALS**
- **3:** poi devi scegliere come **durata del noleggio**: **SEASON**

### **PASSO 3:**
Si aprirà una schermata in cui:
- **1:** devi cliccare sul quadrato bianco in direzione della carta che hai scelto
- **2:** devi cliccare su **RENT** (freccia 2 immagine seguente)

- **1:** devi cliccare su **RENT**

Il noleggio di una carta per un'intera stagione può essere effettuata anche utilizzando siti di terze parti.
Adesso ti mostro come puoi effettuare la stessa operazione di noleggio che ti ho mostrato prima dalla sezione **[Rent](https://peakmonsters.com/rentals)** di **Peakmonsters** invece del sito di Splinterlands.


### **PASSO 1:**
- **1:** Devi effettuare il **login** su https://peakmonsters.com/ utilizzando [Hive Keychain](https://hive-keychain.com/) 
- **2:** devi cliccare su **Rent** in alto a sinistra

- **2:** poi devi scegliere il **metodo di pagamento** che vuoi utilizzare (**DEC** o **Crediti**)
- **3:** poi devi cliccare su **CONFIRM** all'interno della schermata di **Hive Keychain**

## <center>Splinterlands Card Rentals e Peakmonsters Rent</center>

Noleggiare una carta dalla sezione **Card Rentals** di **Splinterlands** o dalla sezione **Rent** di **Peakmonsters** è un'operazione semplice da effettuare in entrambi i casi ma **Peakmonsters ha molte più funzionalità e molti più filtri** che permettono di velocizzare le operazioni di noleggio.

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere i **filtri** disponibili su **Splinterlands**

Se ad esempio vuoi noleggiare **Pecalor Bandit** di **livello 8** ti basterà utilizzare due filtri (Card Name e Level) per restringere immediatamente la ricerca e trovare la carta.

Se il prezzo di noleggio non ti piace puoi anche provare a fare un'**offerta di noleggio** cliccando su **BID**

## <center>Perchè noleggiare le carte?</center>

**Il noleggio è l'alternativa economica all'acquisto di carte.**
Puoi valutare di noleggiare le carte invece di acquistarle per avanzare velocemente nelle leghe di Splinterlands e guadagnare le ricompense di gioco (SPS tokens e Chests) senza investire molto.
In questo modo puoi utilizzare le ricompense di gioco per costruirti un deck sempre più competitivo stagione dopo stagione.
Così facendo sarai in grado di noleggiare un numero sempre minore di carte stagione dopo stagione e la tua spesa per il noleggio diminuirà progressivamente con il passare del tempo.

Quando avevo poche carte nella mia collezione ho utilizzato spesso il noleggio. 
Oggi grazie a quei noleggi e alle ricompense di gioco che ho guadaganto mi sono costruito una collezione di carte competitiva per le leghe Gold e sto aumentando la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte per essere competitivo anche nelle leghe Diamond.

Per decidere **quanto investire** nel noleggio delle carte ti consiglio di **studiare e analizzare il valore stimato delle ricompense di gioco** che puoi ottenere giocando in una determinata lega.
Ti consiglio anche di **procedere per gradi aumentando il livello/costo delle carte noleggiate man mano che avanzi nelle leghe**.

**Per scegliere le carte da noleggiare per essere competitivo in una precisa lega** puoi guardare i **Decks** costruiti dai giocatori più esperti (**thematic** o **lineup**) utilizzando la recente funzionalità [My Decks](https://peakmonsters.com/decks) creata da Peakmonsters.

Il noleggio stagionale aggiunge una nuova funzionalità e una nuova opzione al noleggio.
Il noleggio stagionale di una carta dovrebbe teoricamente avere un prezzo inferiore rispetto al noleggio giornaliero ma per il momento non c'è molta differenza di prezzo tra le due tipologie ma solo perchè è il noleggio stagionale una funzionalità recente e il numero di carte nel mercato del noleggio stagionale è minore del numero di carte nel mercato del noleggio giornaliero.

Di recente Splinterlands ha introdotto la **fees** di **1 DEC** o **1 credito** per il noleggio e per la messa in vendita di una carta.
A causa di queste fees l'operazione di noleggio lato proprietario di una carta richiede una scelta e una valutazione diversa da quella del noleggiante ma questi aspetti saranno l'argomento di un mio prossimo post.

Come sempre articoli molto interessanti i tuoi, caro @libertycrypto27.

Aspetto con trepidazione il prossimo sull'affitto da parte dei proprietari delle carte, categoria a cui, come sai, appartenevo.

Ora sto aspettando che il mercato si stabilizzi sulle novità introdotte per valutare come comportarmi: continuare magari modificando la strategia di affitto adottata o vendere tutto e chiudere con Splinterlands. In questa stagione ho semplicemente lasciato andare tutto togliendo dal mercato solo le carte con affitti inferiori ad un DEC.

> Prima di questa modifica chi noleggiava una carta per 15 giorni poteva vedersi cancellato il noleggio dopo 2 giorni e doveva nuovamente andare sul mercato per rinoleggiare la stessa carta.
Questo processo poteva diventare particolarmente poco piacevole se la cancellazione del noleggio da parte del proprietario della carta avveniva gli ultimi giorni della stagione quando le ricompense sono maggiori e quasi tutti i giocatori incrementano l'attività di gioco.

Qui secondo me prendi in considerazione solo una faccia della medaglia. Io ero uno di coloro che ripetutamente annullava gli affitti quando i prezzi di mercato salivano nel corso della stagione. Ma questa pratica tanto odiata dai giocatori noleggianti mi aveva spinto il loro comportamento, che di riflesso, spesso mi annullavano affitti a lungo termine (ed il termine lo decidevano loro) quando i prezzi scendevano. Mi capitava che persone affittavano le carte per 15 giorni (la durata della stagione) a 100, poi dopo due giorni annullavano l'affitto perché sul mercato si trovavano carte analoghe a meno o perché magari la carta non serviva più a loro. Pensa che è stato solo per questo che ho scoperto che anche io potevo annullare l'affitto: prima pensavo che una volta fissato il termine fosse obbligatorio rispettarlo. E come dicevo io non potevo fissare nessuna scadenza che invece veniva scelta da chi prendeva la carta.

Quindi avevo deciso una mia linea di comportamento secondo qui annullavo gli affitti in due casi:

1) tutte le carte il cui affitto scadeva entro 24 ore ed avevano una quotazione di mercato superiore del 10% rispetto a quella che avevo fissato. In questo caso non arrecavo nessun danno all'affittuario il cui contratto sarebbe comunque andato a termine.

2) tutte le carte che pur avendo scadenza maggiore avevano prezzi di mercato corrente superiori del 35% a quello a cui avevo noleggiato.

> Il noleggio stagionale di una carta dovrebbe teoricamente avere un prezzo inferiore rispetto al noleggio giornaliero ma per il momento non c'è molta differenza di prezzo tra le due tipologie ma solo perchè è il noleggio stagionale una funzionalità recente e il numero di carte nel mercato del noleggio stagionale è minore del numero di carte nel mercato del noleggio giornaliero.

Non sono del tutto d'accordo. E' vero che siamo in un momento piuttosto confuso e quindi occorre attendere una stabilizzazione del mercato. Ma non credo che al termine sarà come dici. Il prezzo a lungo termine si dovrà stabilizzare ad un prezzo intermedio fra quello a breve termine in diverse fasi della stagione. Mi spiego meglio.

Il mercato dell'affitto giornaliero, che prima era l'unico, non è stabile. Ha una andamento che segue più o meno la stagione. Ha un minimo che capita di solito due tre giorni dopo l'inizio della stagione ed un massimo che di solito arriva uno o due giorni prima del termine della stagione. 

Ora il prezzo di mercato dell'affitto stagionale secondo me andrà a collocarsi fra quel minimo e quel massimo e penso sia corretto così. 

Sulla base di quello che avverrà valuterò come comportarmi. Tieni conto che il mercato dell'affitto ha un competitor che forse neanche gli sviluppatori considerano: l'interesse offerto dallo stake di HBD.

Se vendessi tutte le carte che possiedo e trasferissi l'incasso in HBD in stake avrei il 20% annuale senza dover aver fastidi di star dietro agli andamenti di mercato. Per questo motivo finora usavo la gran parte degli incassi degli affitti per continuare a rimpinguare il mio deck comprando però solo carte che mi garantivano una resa dall'affitto almeno del 20% annuale. E stavano diventando sempre meno. 

E' vero che mantenere carte e dec offrivano anch'esse un rendimento sotto forma di SPS e Voucher ma con gli andamenti di questi non erano neanche lontanamente in grado di competere con il 20% del rendimento dell'HBD in stake. E richiedevano molto più tempo ed attenzione. Avevo un rendimento da affitti molto alto rispetto alla maggioranza (non voglio esser presuntuoso ma non ho mai visto profili con un rendimento superiore a quello che avevo, pur andandone a vedere molti). In pratica ottenevo da un minimo del 7-8% ad un massimo del 22-25% del ROI durante le varie fasi della stagione. Con un valore medio intorno a 15-17%. Questi valori stavano via via diminuendo, nonostante comprassi solo carte che appunto tendevano ad alzarlo. E nonostante livellassi le carte per ottenere rendimenti un po' più alti ed uscire dal mercato delle carte affittate a 0.1 DEC.

Lo facevo solo perché avevo sempre immaginato un mio ritorno al gioco attivo. 

Ora le novità impatteranno totalmente mettendo in atto molte dinamiche diverse, diverse da valutare a priori, perché molto dipenderà da come agiranno molti grossi holder di carte. Per esempio le carte livellate dovrebbero subire un impatto negativo minori e forse anche ottenere marginali guadagni, ma difficile se non impossibile tener conto delle molte dinamiche che si metteranno in moto anche perché l'unica certezza è che la stabilità delle regole è tutt'altro che assicurata ;)

Ho fatto anche io come te, adesso sono curioso di vedere se le carte che prima avevano un prezzo di fitto inferiore ad 1 DEC avranno mercato tramite gli affitti giornalieri/stagionali ma questo non è tutto sommato un male perchè o il prezzo di base giornaliero crescerà per tutte le carte sopra 1 DEC oppure ci saranno più carte livellate...vediamo cosa succederà

Ci sono sempre i due lati della medaglia e tu facevi benissimo ad adattarti al mercato perchè la possibilità di annullare il fitto era prevista per entrambe le parti.
Ma in un mercato come quello del fitto delle carte di Splinterlands la considerazione maggiore dovrebbe essere sempre a favore dell'acquirente perchè al proprietario un annullamento del fitto fa diminuire un guadagno ottenuto in modo passivo mentre a chi noleggia fa aumentare un costo e incide anche sui suoi piani di gioco proprio nel momento in cui gioca di più. Ma soprattutto chi noleggia lo fa per giocare (escludendo i bot) e spesso è un nuovo giocatore...
Proprio per le dinamiche del gioco di Splinterlands con la fine della stagione come momento principale di gioco, il vecchio sistema era un sistema autodistruttivo o che si mordeva la coda e non per colpa di acquirenti o proprietari ma di Splinterlands che doveva intervenire prima senza lasciare il mercato ad autoregolarsi.
Per come era strutturato prima il mercato se la maggior parte degli acquirenti annullava i fitti i proprietari avrebbero alzato i prezzi e di conseguenza ci sarebbero stati meno fitti.
Se tutti i proprietari annullavano i fitti prima della fine della stagione per guadagnare di più pochi avrebbero noleggiato le carte nei primi giorni della stagione se non gli ultimi giorni della stagione e anche i proprietari avrebbero guadagnato di meno.

Quando noleggiavo mi è capitato che una carta che avevo noleggiato diversi giorni prima è stata ripresa gli ultimi giorni e io da quel momento ho noleggiato solo l'ultimo giorno o gli ultimi due giorni e spendevo meno rispetto a prima anche se poi dovevo giocare maggiormente gli ultimi giorni...

Secondo me Splinterlands doveva intervenire prima con una modifica del genere perchè ne risentiva tutto il mercato ed entrambe le parti della medaglia, adesso è decisamente molto meglio e ognuno ha più opzioni da scegliere ;)

Si la tua osservazione è giustissima, nel mio post ho sintetizzato (sbagliando) dicendo che l'affitto stagionale dovrebbe costare di meno del giornaliero ma quello che volevo dire, è una mia ipotesi, è che secondo me l'affitto stagionale costerà meno come valore medio (e quindi scenderà al di sotto del valore medio che dici tu) rispetto al giornaliero perchè più stabile e rassicurante per entrambe le parti in gioco ma certamente come hai fatto ben notare tu dipenderà dal momento di noleggio e ci saranno altre strategie da entrambe le parti per ottenere prezzi/guadagni migliori in base ai giorni della stagione.
Quindi il noleggio stagionale dovrebbe costare meno gli ultimi giorni della stagione e di più i primi giorni rispetto al giornaliero ma quando sarà a regime.
Al momento però i due prezzi sono quasi sempre uguali e anche oggi che mancano 5 giorni alla fine della stagione ma penso che questa sia una tendenza temporanea altrimenti il giornaliero converrebbe solo gli ultimi due giorni della stagione e sarebbe sempre preferibile lo stagionale nel caso contrario (dal punto di vista della sicurezza di avere le carte per tutta la stagione) ;)

Il merito è dei tuoi post interessanti che offrono spunti di intervento notevoli

Su questo non sono d'accordo. Io proprietario metto in affitto la carta al prezzo X, tu affittuario decidi di prenderla per il periodo di TOT giorni. Hai già un vantaggio al momento della sottoscizione del contratto: decidi tu la durata su cui io non ho voce in capitolo. Poi è assolutamente ingiusto che sciogli il contratto anzitempo senza subire penalizzazioni e lasciando solo a me di subire le conseguenze. E' questo che secondo me ha poi indotto anche gli affittuari ad annullare anzitempo: con me almeno è stato così.

Secondo me non proprio. La modifica da introdurre sarebbe stata un'altra. Appunto quella di impedire l'annullamento del contratto anzitempo. Magari dando al proprietario la possibilità di fissare un tetto massimo di durata dell'affitto stesso. Ad esempio io metto che al massimo la durata è di 30 giorni. Tu decidi di prenderla per 15 giorni. Fino ad allora nè io nè te possiamo interrompere anzitempo il contratto. Sarebbe stato equo e flessibile. Così chi voleva affittare per tutta la stagione poteva comunque farlo. 

Comunque non considero negativamente questa modifica, migliorabile ma non negativa. 

Quella che assolutamente non mi va è la "commissione" di 1 dec su ogni immissione nel mercato degli affitti e di ogni cambio di prezzo. Considerando che oltre ad essere spropositata si somma a quella del 5% che esisteva già. Secondo me rischia di ingessare il mercato e rischia di mettere in moto una vendita da parte di chi come me valuta alternative. Se lo faccio io poco male, ma se cominciano a farlo i grandi holder i prezzi collasseranno rischiando di travolgere tutto il gioco, perché parliamoci chiaro: non ci sono abbastanza giocatori per le carte disponibili sul mercato o in altre parole sono state immesse troppe carte rispetto alla massa di giocatori soprattutto nel caso in cui si dovesse davvero far la guerra ai BOT.

Certo questa commissione potrebbe spingere a livellare le carte per andare a cercare affitti migliori. Questo sarebbe positivo ed io come dicevo lo facevo già nel limite del possibile.

Sulle land ancora non si conosce nulla. Certo le speranze sono che introducano un miglioramento, ma non resta che attendere e la mancanza di indicazioni lascia pensare a idee ancora confuse.
