I've been reading and hearing a lot of concerns and complains lately, by photographers who upload their works to stock agencies with the hope their works will be sold for commissions.

The major concerns are AI generative services will decrease the volume of sales up to a point where everyone will just use the text-to-image AI powered services to get what they want for free.

Also, the other big concern is photographers are being ripped by not getting commissions for training the AI with their photographs.

Firefly is a new player to this game, it is still in Beta and it is free but requires a valid Adobe ID, that's a user account with Adobe.

So today I spent a few hours comparing the results of both Firefly and one of the first "players", Stable Diffusion.

## I used the same phrase on both of them: "Blend of the most famous European buildings on background of the EU flag"

These are the most appealing results I got from the two services after trying tens of times:

I really liked the plentiful of visual types of controls and settings provided by Adobe Firefly.

However, I used only the "Photo" type, trying to make the most realistic feel of the output.

# My Conclusion, as of June 2023:

* As a photographer who uploads to Stock Photo Agencies, Adobe included, so far I do not feel threatened by the AI text-to-image generative services. Still, they do not look that professional and commercially appealing. However, AI learns quickly so that could change, even in days!

* Shutterstock already pays its contributors whenever an image is generated by using their photographs. I would love to see such revenue stream by Adobe too and I saw an announcement by them saying they are "working on it". I really don't mind being a teacher to their AI implementation but I have to eat too. :)

I saw a few Adobe stock photographers who said their commissions have been decreasing lately and they are going to stop uploading to Adobe Stock. I think that's a matter that needs to be monitored closer. I'll definitely have to pay more attention to that from now on...
