<b>Breakthrough was achieved in Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) with new plasma development!<br>
At 21:00 on April 12, the first 403-second steady-state H-mode plasma was achieved on EAST, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (HFIPS), which was a new record of pulse length on high performance operation in tokamaks. On the second day at 19:00, the EAST team repeated this operational scenario, demonstrating the reliable capability of the device.<br>
There were several distinctive features in this scenario development, according to Prof. GONG Xianzu, the head of Division of EAST Physics and Experimental Operations, HFIPS.<br>
A full non-inductive plasma was achieved on EAST in W-Divertor with high density and high bootstrap current utilizing Radio Frequency wave heating with zero torque injection.<br>
One of the most notable features of this new plasma development was Energy Confinement Factor H98y2 around 1.35 with internal transport barrier by electron dominant heating. Additionally, the experiment successfully tackled key issues on particle and heat balance with actively cooling tungsten divertor, resulting in a recycling coefficient R of approximately 0.92 and the surface temperature on lower divertor below 600℃.<br>
Moreover, throughout the discharge, the EAST exhibited small Edge Localized Modes (ELMs) along with high core performance, where plasma poloidal beta was around 2.5 and normalized beta reached 1.5.<br>
This accomplishment marked an important milestone in fusion energy research and bringed one step closer to developing a clean, sustainable source of power for the future.<br>
GONG believes that this major breakthrough made in EAST physics experiment further verifies the feasibility of steady-state H-mode operation in the future fusion reactor.<br>
"EAST's success is a joint effort, a statement of most extensive cooperation in scientific fields," said SONG Yuntao, Vice President of HFIPS and Director General of Institute of Plasma Physics (ASIPP). "EAST team has worked together closely with their collaborators at home and abroad over the past decades solving a series of frontier physics & technical issues with a long-time scale, including plasma configuration control, high efficiency of RF heating and current drive, plasma-wall interactions, real-time diagnostics for key plasma parameters."<br>
"In the past years, with the support from the government authorities, Chinese Academy of Sciences and our domestic and international collaborators, EAST device in ASIPP has been continuously upgraded to enhance fusion performance in support of ITER operation and the construction of Chinese fusion reactor," added SONG.<br>
The first experimental campaign on EAST in 2023 will be going on for about two or three months and the second one has been scheduled in the winter of this year.</b>

<b>Пробој је постигнут у експерименталном напредном суперпроводљивом токамаку (ЕАСТ) са новим развојем плазме!<br>
У 21:00 12. априла, прва стабилна Х-мод плазма од 403 секунде постигнута је на ЕАСТ-у, Хефеи Институту физичких наука (ХФИПС), што је био нови рекорд дужине импулса у раду високих перформанси у токамацима. Другог дана у 19:00, ЕАСТ тим поновио је овај оперативни сценарио, демонстрирајући поуздан рад уређаја.<br>
Било је неколико карактеристичних особина у овом сценарију развоја, према проф. ГОНГ Сианцуу, шефу Одељења за ЕАСТ физику и експерименталне операције, ХФИПС.<br>
Потпуно неиндуктивна плазма постигнута је на ЕАСТ-у у W-дивертору са високом густином и струјом покретања помоћу радио-фреквентно таласно загревање са нултим додавањем обртног момента.<br>
Једна од најзначајнијих карактеристика овог новог развоја плазме био је Х98и2 фактор ограничења енергије око 1,35 с унутрашњом транспортном баријером загревања претежно електронима. Поред тога, експеримент је успешно решио кључне проблеме у вези са балансом честица и топлоте са активно хлађеним волфрамовим дивертором, уз коефицијент рециклаже Р од приближно 0,92 и температуром површине на доњем дивертору испод 600℃.<br>
Штавише, током пражњења, ЕАСТ је показао мале ивичне локализоване режиме (ЕЛМ) заједно са високим перформансама језгра, где је плазма полоидна бета била око 2,5, а нормализована бета достигла је 1,5.<br>
Ово достигнуће означило је важну прекретницу у истраживању енергије фузије и довело је корак ближе развоју чистог, одрживог извора енергије за будућност.<br>
ГОНГ верује да овај велики пробој у ЕАСТ експерименту физике додатно потврђује изводљивост стабилног Х-режима рада у будућем фузионом реактору.<br>
„Успех ЕАСТ-а је заједнички напор, потврда најшире сарадњи у научним областима“, рекао је СОНГ Јунтао, потпредседник ХФИПС-а и генерални директор Института за физику плазме (АСИПП). „ЕАСТ тим је блиско радио са сарадницима у земљи и иностранству током протеклих деценија, дугорочно решавајући низ граничних физичких и техничких проблема, укључујући контролу конфигурације плазме, високу ефикасност РФ грејања и погона, интеракцију плазма-зидова, дијагностику у реалном времену за кључне параметре плазме.“<br>
„Протеклих година, уз подршку државних органа, Кинеске академије наука и наших домаћих и међународних сарадника, ЕАСТ уређај у АСИПП-у континуирано је унапређиван како би се побољшале перформансе фузије као подршка раду ИТЕР-а и изградњи кинеског фузионог реактора,“ додао је СОНГ.<br>
Прва експериментална кампања на ЕАСТ-у 2023. године трајаће око два-три месеца, а друга је заказана за зиму ове године.</b>

I ponder why this is being done...  Energy production?  We have had free energy technology since at least the 1950's.  My dad worked on it with T. Townsend Brown and would tell Us what They were getting in experiments before it went above top secret and into black projects.  (Talk about censorship!)
