Even more testing, using our flowers & our cats again!
Its endless!

This is why I boiled an old camera in 94, to provoke others, but really to remind myself that they're *tools only*....

Oh well, at least I've tested the Sony & Nikon gear extensively. Since I won't be able to invest in anything new the coming years I gotta get it right!

One way or another that which I won't use will have to be sold too, so there is that...

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmSGi5F6fixVPU2sgoQpGiFxPB6yJVtkE4G3zuBwrgg476/_viz0985.jpg)*The Fujifilm X-H1 with Olympus OM 135/2.8*

This camera was an investment in the company I set up in 2019, apart from keeping this I had to walk away from that venture too, which was a perilous process that I'll write about at some point...

![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmRaFQofeJJS5M8QDHt3KgMC7dK6A3pSDhMdBtiqE73NNM/_dsf1700.jpg)*The usual, unknown flower*

I still don't know the name of this flower! Oh, I'll call it Hubert, then.

One of the reasons that I got the Sony and Minolta gear was its ability to render pastel colours, compared to the Leica M-8 that I used at the time it was doing very well.

Nikon is know to be quite harsh, but also rich and sharp, which has sort of show in the black & white work that I have shared under #monomad earlier.

Hubert is doing quite well also with the Fujifilm! This is also a simple, quick edit of the jpeg in Pinta, so I'll totally be able to get the same result on this platform.

Another thing with the viewfinder of the X-H1 is the viewfinder. I've used it quite a bit with old, manual lenses earlier on, but I haven't had the time and calm to compare it, reflect on how I might get better at using it, how it will work under different conditions and so on.

Doing these I realized that it can be *far* more accurate than basically anything, maybe even a split prism which the Nikon D700 has!

The Olympus OM 135/2.8 is also a fantastic, cheap lens, compact and mechanically very good. Another candidate to get 2-3x of, to leave at hotels in the cities I'll be alternating between.

Might this combination be the best that I have access to now? Or maybe the light was just like this...

Who knows. When I had the agency I wanted to get a cheap, digital Pentax 645D simply because the size of a sensor matters, as it does for film of course.

I still have 3 lenses for that platform back in Europe, so who knows...

Actually this was in a rather deep shade, of course the Fujifilm is far superior to the rest when it comes to high ISO.

I'never really contemplated getting rid of it, but its been my thinking that I'll try to keep it for video only. The reason for that is that I need to work on splitting up my stills & video work, especially since I really need to learn video well.

There are similarities of course, but video and stills really is *very* different! A still photo is always a slice of time, a frozen moment where **just that one** might work, while the rest of a series can be pure garbage that you'll never show anyone!

For video of course its all about well thought out sequences, where there should be a plan and ideally a script even before you get started for real...

We'll have to see how that part develops for me! For now I have this luxurious thing going on, where I can test and prepare, using these remains of the agency to build something *new*, ideally on Hive! 🙂

That's it for now!

Been talking about to a certain degree, but doing something decentralized with everything going on in Europe is not the easiest...

My goal is to recreate the cooperative I had in the fiat world somehow, so small scale, smart cooperation for maybe max a dozen active members.

There are a lot of prerequisites, some of those are connected to my location, which is one of the main reasons that I'll be on the move the next years!
