But during the Monday's _Malaysia Day_ (Birthday) I had the liberty to play with a _new toy_ I acquired from Shopee Malaysia (or for the US, you can try Wish.com). which is...

# Do-It-Yourself Assembling Wall Clock

At a glance on the picture you would realise that it looks a lot like a really nice and probably very solid clock.

_Heck, even from the advertised photos they look solid, and I was wondering would it hold just by having adhesives and not drilled on paint wall?_

Because my wall is gray based and my parents need a solid view of the clock, I have decided to acquire a black one. 

_Besides it was only around USD 4 during the free shipping 9.9 sale so it is definitely worth a try_

# Upon arrival and unpacking

The box was very light upon arrival, and just slightly squashed because of shipping all the way from China, but the product itself was not damaged at all.

And surprisingly it turned out to be pre-cut compact foams in black colour that are in the box, which explains why it is lightweight.

They came with a template of 3 design choices so you can decide whether to make it a little cute (with the birds), full fledged numbers or partial numbers and dots.

_Of course, you saw my finished product above I have decided to choose all numbers for my parents' sake._

The number foams are very easy to take out because of its well cut-through rounded design, and even a child could take it out and get hurt.

The whole back is stuck with adhesive, so if you don't want to through the foam away, with a proper foam cutter you technically can cut anything else remaining and create other 3D effects too.

# Before the assembly

As I have mentioned that there were 3 design models that you can do for the clock yourself, and it came with a sheet of guided template.

Once you have decided which design to go with, you will need to proceed with cutting the guided lines out so that it creates a paper stencil for your placement.

Especially the center, where your battery powered pointers will be located.

Once done, you will have this nice stencil ready for action!

And please do make sure to use a leveler to ensure it is at the right angle. 

_PS: If you are using iPhone with minimum iOS 12, there is an app that helps you to find your leveled line. It's actually pretty neat!_

With the guided stencil, remove the adhesive protector film and start placing the numbers. If you cut it along the lines correctly (or even slightly outward by 0.5mm) you won't go wrong with the placement at all.

Once the placement is up, you can remove the paper stencil. Once that is done, you will just need to assemble the needles (not too tightly), make sure you got the points correct, adjust it like a normal clock and add in the (AA) battery before placing on it.

## And Voila! 
You made your own clock!

# The Verdict?
Definitely a YAY. Because this can be a wonderful family / school project between parents and child, and kids can learn a lot with precision, patience, accuracy and a well-learned activity away from the digital games.

There is no nails and hammer required, except a proper blade, so if adults could help the kids on preparing the stencils, then it is totally a fuss-free project.
