A week later, scientists came to unexpected conclusions: those who, by their own admission, had the best skills of self-control, in principle, experienced fewer temptations. In other words, those who best control themselves, rarely have to control themselves.

Michael Intslicht and Marina Milyavskaya confirmed and expanded this idea by conducting the same experiment among 159 students of the Canadian University of McGill. It turned out that the high performance in the semester was demonstrated not by those who managed to themselves, but those who experienced less temptations. Moreover: the more tried to restrain themselves, the more tired they felt. They did not  what they, but only exhausted themselves with diligence.
