This was my New Year's Eve post last year.  

Look at all those votes - 83 of them, and it ended up with an 89c reward.  Now I think at the time we were getting rewards in STEEM and SP, so that probably equated to a payout of about 0.33 STEEM.  And STEEM was priced then at around 10c so, the actual liquid fiat amount (if it had been worth taking to the exchange!) would have been about 3c.

At the time, I was probably quite pleased with getting any votes and any rewards at all.  I'd been here a few months and back then it took a long time to start getting any traction at all.

Now look at some of those voters.  There are some hugely powerful whale/witness types in there.  If the same 83 users voted for a post today, it would payout a large number of SBD, with SBD at $8 today.   A 37.50SBD payout turns into USD300, which would be an annual increase of x1000.  That's how much payouts have gone up (both because of the linear reward hard fork and the rise in STEEM/SBD price).  So I for one look forward to daily $100k payouts next Christmas :D

Of course, past performance is no indication of future returns.  These are all just funny games with numbers.  And even if it doesn't expand to the same degree, this STEEM bubble also doesn't seem about to pop anytime soon and in the words of Eliza Doolittle: "Wouldn't it be loverly?!"
