Hola mi apreciados amigos de Motherhood, es un placer estar por aca para compartir mis alegrías con todos ustedes en este hermoso rol como padre.
El tiempo tiene una manera peculiar de acelerarse cuando menos lo esperamos. Parece que fue ayer cuando Alexander, con su morral más grande que él, cruzaba la puerta de la escuela primaria. Ahora, a sus 16 años, está a punto de cerrar un capítulo significativo de su vida: su último año de bachillerato.

Time has a peculiar way of speeding up when we least expect it. It seems like only yesterday that Alexander, with his backpack bigger than he is, was walking through the door of elementary school. Now, at 16, he is about to close a significant chapter in his life: his last year of high school.

Recuerdo el primer día de clases como si fuera hoy. Los nervios y la emoción se entrelazaban en su rostro, una mezcla de ansiedad por lo desconocido y el deseo de conquistar el mundo. Ese mismo brillo en sus ojos es el que veo hoy, mientras me cuenta sobre la fecha de su defensa de cierre de proyecto el 27 de junio y su acto de grado aproximadamente el 31 de julio. Su voz, llena de orgullo y expectativa, resuena en la casa que pronto se sentirá demasiado grande cuando él decida que oficio tomar.
Como padre, he sido testigo de su transformación. Las tardes de estudio, los proyectos de ciencia que parecían imposibles, las amistades que iban y venían, y las innumerables veces que le vi caer y levantarse. Alexander no solo ha crecido en estatura, sino en carácter y sabiduría. Ha aprendido que cada error es una lección y que la perseverancia es la clave del éxito.


>I remember the first day of school as if it were today. Nerves and excitement were intertwined on her face, a mixture of anxiety for the unknown and the desire to conquer the world. That same sparkle in her eyes is what I see today, as she tells me about the date of her capstone defense on June 27 and her graduation ceremony on approximately July 31. His voice, full of pride and anticipation, echoes in the house that will soon feel too big when he decides which trade to take.
As a parent, I have witnessed his transformation. The afternoons of studying, the science projects that seemed impossible, the friendships that came and went, and the countless times I watched him fall down and get back up. Alexander has not only grown in stature, but in character and wisdom. He has learned that every mistake is a lesson and that perseverance is the key to success.

La cuenta regresiva para alcanzar esta meta ha comenzado. Cada día que pasa es un paso más hacia ese momento en el que veré a mi hijo cruzar el escenario, recibir su diploma y sonreír para la foto que inmortalizará su logro. No puedo evitar sentir una mezcla de emociones: alegría por verlo triunfar, nostalgia por los momentos que ya no volverán y, sobre todo, gratitud por haber tenido el privilegio de acompañarlo en este viaje.
La crianza es un arte y un desafío. No hay manual que nos prepare para las noches en vela, las preocupaciones que nos roban el sueño o las decisiones difíciles que debemos tomar. Pero en cada uno de esos momentos, hemos encontrado la oportunidad de enseñarle a Alexander valores como la integridad, la compasión y la determinación.


>The countdown to reach this goal has begun. Each day that passes is another step closer to that moment when I will see my son cross the stage, receive his diploma and smile for the photo that will immortalize his achievement. I can't help but feel a mixture of emotions: joy to see him succeed, nostalgia for the moments that will never come back and, above all, gratitude for having had the privilege of accompanying him on this journey.
Parenting is an art and a challenge. There is no manual that prepares us for the sleepless nights, the worries that rob us of sleep or the difficult decisions we must make. But in each of those moments, we have found the opportunity to teach Alexander values such as integrity, compassion and determination.

Ahora, mientras observo a Alexander prepararse para su defensa de proyecto, veo reflejado en él no solo el conocimiento adquirido en los libros, sino también las lecciones de vida que hemos compartido. Su proyecto no es solo un requisito académico; es el testimonio de su pasión, su creatividad y su compromiso con el futuro que desea construir.
El acto de grado será un día de celebración, pero también un recordatorio de que nuestra labor como padres nunca termina. Aunque Alexander esté listo para volar por su cuenta, siempre tendrá en nosotros un lugar seguro al que volver, un par de oídos dispuestos a escuchar y un corazón lleno de amor incondicional.





>Now, as I watch Alexander prepare for his project defense, I see reflected in him not only the knowledge gained from books, but also the life lessons we have shared. His project is not just an academic requirement; it is a testament to his passion, his creativity and his commitment to the future he wants to build.
The graduation ceremony will be a day of celebration, but also a reminder that our work as parents is never done. Even if Alexander is ready to fly on his own, he will always have a safe place to come back to, a pair of listening ears and a heart full of unconditional love.

Estoy orgulloso de Alexander, no solo por sus logros académicos, sino por la persona en la que se ha convertido. Y mientras contamos los días para su graduación, sé que este es solo el comienzo de muchas más aventuras y éxitos que le esperan.
La experiencia de ser padre es, sin duda, la más desafiante y gratificante de todas. Nos enseña sobre la fuerza que no sabíamos que teníamos y sobre el amor que no conoce límites. Y así, mientras Alexander se prepara para dar el siguiente paso, yo me preparo para apoyarlo en cada nueva etapa, siempre con la certeza de que lo mejor está por venir.
