Australia's True Grit - Keen to see what this contest looks like? It's a 13KM run with 33 military style obstacles.

<p><strong>Yay!! I'm a TrueGrit finisher</strong>, completed all 33 obstacles without cheating - tough work under the hot Australian sun.</p>
<p>Here's a photo of me leading the pack - yeah loving playing in the mud! can see why the elephants love it! hehe.</p>

<p>So a while back &nbsp;I joined this Adelaide, South Australian team called BCFit and yeah we signed up for this True Grit challenge thing...Why?hehe Why not?</p>
<p>Anyways, here's a photo of the <strong>totally awesome BCFit team</strong> at the finishing line - Well done team!</p>

<p>The team has been training for True Grit for a while, but because of life and my Steemit posting activities I rarely got to the training - Still determined not to let my team down I did a bit of training here and there when time permitted - Glad I did!</p>
<h3>What is the course like</h3>
<p>Well apparently these True Grit contests run all over the country, but the one I went to was at Caudo winery - not far from Cadell in South Australia.</p>
<p>Below is a photo of the first obstacle</p>

<p>Of course it looks easy, but yeah not so in practice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hymn not too far down, perhaps this would be easy......so I thought!</p>

<p>Shortly after you have to jump another one then followed up with a nice jog.</p>
<p>On from this are another 32 obstacles, each with different challenges - the whole thing is a whole body workout. I won't show all the obstacles - you need to sign up and see them for yourselves :), but here are a few examples.</p>
<p>Here's &nbsp;a good old fashioned net climb.</p>

<p>...and yet another wall climb below, but this one you have to run at, jump high and grab the top with your finger tips and pull yourself up.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then yeah...climb under some barbed wire carrying a 9KG weight (that was the easiest option)</p>

<p>Then a good old rope bridge....pretty easy if you have decent balance.</p>

<p>Yeah...this ones a bit harder and most people fell in, but somehow I managed to keep my shoes clean - It hurt though!.</p>

<p>..Some kind of crazy moving island hop activity, not sure how but I &nbsp;made it across this as well without issue. Watching the pro's I realised the key was to hit it fast and keep moving...Allot of people fell in here.</p>

<p>People should definitely try this, you do get pretty muddy at the end though as you have to crawl through some tunnels and over hurdles and stuff in a mud pit, but yeah...more fun!!&nbsp;</p>

<p>...Like any true contest, at the end you go for a bit of a swim, wash off the mud and then<strong> chug a beer!</strong></p>
<h3>Tips for those considering doing a True Grit</h3>
<ul>
  <li>The biggest challenge was running through ankle deep red sand for several KM - Beach training would have been good.</li>
  <li>Do lots of chin ups - you have to be able to jump up, grab the top of a wall and pull yourself up and over</li>
  <li>Get use to crawling in the dirt - There are an equal number of challenges climbing under things as there are going over</li>
  <li>Train - Don't be like me, go to the training sessions hehe.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Would I do it again?</h3>
<p>Absolutely, it was great fun, like a massive play ground except for adults. Highly recommended.</p>

This is great! It looks like a tough mudder, It is the American version of a similar gnarly obstacle course. I have never tried one but I have been wanting to for a long time. They look like so much fun! Thanks for sharing, I will let you know if I sign up for one in the near future!

This is awesome!  Your cover photo is mad guns!

I've done quite a few of these and they really wear you down... and it's super hard not to bruise like crazy on those rope climbs.  Glad you were wearing pants... I've scooted along in shorts before and rope burned myself across my ankles.

Hahaha, thanks for the shout out man!  It's all about those pull ups... they really do make the wall climbs so much easier. These photos are so good!  Well done to the photographers!  Your face at the barb-wire is the best!!! One of those 'why is this happening to me' moments.

Thanks man! hahaha I knew you would have done this. 

Having the upper body strength from those pull-ups exercises you talked me through sure did help - without doubt :)

Yeah, I wasn't sure what to wear and a few people had a joke/laughed at me :), but it helped having long pants for the majority of the way - not so good in the mud and swimming though.

...crawling under the barbed wire hurt allot because they make you carry/push this heavy steel bar along as well -  probably replicating as if you were carrying a heavy rifle or something - very military training style.

Wasn't too bad - yeah was heaps of fun!, someone had one of those fitbit watches and said their heart rate stayed in high cardio burn the entire time. To be honest I found running between obstacles more challenging then the obstacles, mostly because it was deep sand and full sun - not use to that.
