Today I want to share with you a topic related to the upbringing of our children because as we know we do not have a manual that teach us how to be parents, we learn this with the day to day experience and the advice that others give us.

A problem that often leaves us parents with our hair standing on end is when the child starts to throw a tantrum. When contradicted, he starts crying, screaming, sometimes even throwing himself on the floor. At that point there are parents who get out of control and get desperate, and there are parents who fight and "forbid" the child to act that way.

Anyone who has been through this knows that neither way solves the problem. First, because children learn a lot by example. Your way of dealing with your frustrations is the best way to help your child invent his own way to solve his problems, so despairing over this kind of behavior is not the best way out. Forbidding something like this doesn't make much sense either, as it is a manifestation of an emotion you are feeling.

It is important to understand that the child needs to learn to deal with anger and not ignore it, so it is good to help your child identify this feeling and find ways to express it in a more appropriate way that does not hurt him or her or other people.

A good idea is to understand with her why the child was angry and help her find words to express how she feels. Often, simply expressing feelings in words is very comforting.

Saying that you understand that the play was very nice and that she was upset about having to stop playing to put the toys away, but that now it is time to take a shower to go outside, would be a very good example.

It's important for her to understand that it makes sense to feel frustrated about having to stop doing something she enjoys, but that crying right now won't help her. That's also why it's important not to give in for no reason, so she realizes that crying won't help her get what she wants.

It is worth remembering that in children aged two to four years this type of behavior is more common, as the child is in a special phase of discovery and experimentation, moving towards greater independence from the parents.

In addition to respecting the child's emotion and helping him/her to name what he/she feels, it is good to be attentive to see if these outbursts are not too frequent or if the child does not repeatedly put him/herself in some kind of risky situation. .
