HPB (High-Performance Blockchain) is a new kind of block chain hardware and software architecture, which includes a chip acceleration engine and the blockchain platform. This new blockchain architecture aims to extend the performance of distributed applications to meet real world business needs. This is achieved by creating an architecture similar to an API operating system. 

The software architecture provides accounts, identity and authorization management, policy management, databases, and asynchronous communication on thousands of CPUs, FPGAs or clustered program schedulers. HPB is a new architecture that can support millions of transactions per second and support authorizations within seconds.

HPB features are:  open source, support millions of daily users, low latency, high throughput and high concurrency,  TOE technology, acceleration engine, DPOS consensus algorithm, block production every 3 seconds, transaction confirmation, role-based privilege management, blockchain APIs, smart contract system, general virtual machine mechanism.

In my opinion this is  a very interesting and ambitious project, many call HPB the EOS of China.
