It's hard to escape the feeling that effort ought to lead to reward. So it's frustrating to get no upvotes on the thing you were working on for a long time. On the other hand, what I've realized is some of the novel-length posts I crank out are mostly for my own benefit... And that rare person who happens to be on the same wavelength as me.
