*What makes the Trezor wallet the most secure way to store your crypto?* Let's find out.

I ordered a Trezor wallet and it arrived in the mail today. Last week I bought a Trezor directly from the company website and paid for it in bitcoin.

It cost about $100 in bitcoin and another $30 to ship it via DHL. I was able to track the shipment as it traveled from the Czech Republic, to Germany, then to Madrid, Mexico City, Cancun, and finally to my front door in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

In total, it took 5 days to get here.

Hooked it up to the computer and got it all set up without a hitch and feel a lot more secure about my Bitcoin now.

## <center>What Makes A Tezor So Secure?</center> ##

First, there is an encrypted password to access the device followed by a PIN number.

The device allows you to enter information on the device itself so you never reveal your password, PIN, addressed, or any keystrokes on any laptop you hook it up to or on your cell phone.

Computers can be infected with a bug that records your keystrokes making you vulnerable to hackers. Using Trezor you never enter keystrokes on a computer except for your pin which is scrambled.

The numbers of the PIN are scrambled so even if someone is recording your keystrokes they cannot see the numbers you are entering.

If someone steals your Trezor and tries to do a brute force attack to get your PIN they would have 15 tries before the device is wiped clean (Since the new TREZOR Firmware Security Update — 1.5.2).

Each try increases the amount of time before you can try again. If someone actually tries 15 times it would take them 18 hours to do so. They would still need the password too.

30 tries used to take 17 years, but now with the new update, they only get 15 tries which is plenty of time to recover your wallet.

Using a 9-number PIN with no repeating numbers makes it the [strongest PIN you can have](https://blog.trezor.io/3-simple-rules-for-a-good-pin-336712169def).

If they try to break it open to use an electron microscope to get your seed words the device will wipe clean.

You can create multiple wallets for different account and cryptocurrencies too like Ethereum, Dash, LiteCoin, and ERC-20 tokens.

Everything is encrypted going in and out of the Trezor and your private keys and seed words are never exposed to a computer or cell phone.

You can also create different Bitcoin accounts to further protect your main account and protect yourself from the classic $5 wrench hack.

*What is the classic $5 wrench hack?*

That's when someone hits you with a $5 wrench in the head until you give up your password so they can take your bitcoins.

*How do you protect yourself from the classic $5 wrench hack?*

Create dummy accounts with very little bitcoin in it that you can give to a mean hacker while concealing your real fortune.

Complete with its own PIN and password the thieves (or border guards) would never know you had another wallet on the same wallet.

Another thing you can do to make Trezor even more secure is to create a multi-signature wallet with another wallet on your cell phone.

When you authorize a transaction with the Trezor you would have to open the other wallet too and scan the QR code on your screen to sign it. This way a thief would have to have both your devices and their passwords and private keys to make a transaction.

It feels like my bitcoin are secure. For $100 I'm glad I bought it and have some piece of mind.
