What Does Each Part Of The American Flag Stand For?

With the American holiday of the Fourth of July nearing, I thought I would inform the non American Steemit users on what each part of the American flag stands for.

# The 50 Stars

The 50 stars each represent the 50 states of America, with the most recent being Hawaii in 1959.

# The 13 Stripes

The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies: Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.

# The Color Red

The color red on the flag symbolizes "hardiness and valor."

# The Color Blue

The color blue on the flag symbolizes "vigilance, perseverance, and justice."

# The Color White

The color white on the flag symbolizes "purity and innocence."
